I am thrilled to announce that I will support my PhD lab, the AG Kerkhoff, at the University Hospital Regensburg for the next months in their research on the evolution of the nervous system.

I will always remember the day of my defense as one of the most beautiful days in my life because of all the people who celebrated with me!
Now it's time for me to continue my path in academia as a postdoc, so stay tuned for the next chapters of my life as a neuroscientist. (6/6)
On May 20, 2025, I successfully defended my doctoral thesis in the field of neurobiology on the role of mitochondrial dynamics in fear after four and a half years of hard work. (1/6)
me afterwards until the middle of the night. This day again showed me what amazing parents and friends I have in my life and that I can always count on them! (5/6)
Honestly, when I officially heard from my committee that I am closing this chapter of my life with the highest grade summa cum laude, I was so incredibly happy. But what mattered to me the most on that day were all the people that showed up, supported me and celebrated with (4/6)
I am also very thankful for the financial support of my research project that I received from the DFG via the @grk2174 and for the BGF scholarship for completing a doctorate that I received from the @uni_regensburg. (3/6)
I am so grateful for my time as a PhD student and for all the people who I met along the way and who supported me, including my supervisor Eugen Kerkhoff, my lab mates, the members of the @grk2174 and my collaboration partners. (2/6)
GRK2174 mito enthusiasts @AnnaTHuber and @IselineCardon participated in the
Cell Symposia "Multifaceted Mitochondria" and presented their respective research on the protein mitoSPIRE1 and mitochondrial dysfunctions in depression

If you are interested in mitochondrial dynamics in the nervous sytem, you can find me today at the Cell Symposia: Multifaceted Mitochondria - Poster P2.037! #mitochondria#brain#LetsDoThis
I am so grateful that I got the opportunity to present my ongoing PhD work at the Satellite Event of the @FENSorg Forum 2022 "From Glia Cell Functions to Brain Dysfunctions: Understanding the Cellular Roots of Brain Disorders"!

A great start for our #grksummerschool!
A huge thank you to our amazing guest speakers @sjo09 and Dr.Mazahir T. Hasan. No better way to begin celebrating great research and learning for a whole week with a cool selfie. 🎉
