Robin Williams with gorilla Coco, who knew 1,000 gestures and understood about 2,000 words. When Coco was told that the actor had died, the gorilla was very upset.
Dr. Patterson told Coco that "we lost a dear friend, Robin Williams." Coco wrote ICRY LIP" pulled away and "became very gloomy, bowing her head and shivering her lips."
Williams visited the research center where Coco lived in 2001 and the actor managed to quickly make friends with her. And for the first time in six months, spending time with Robin, Coco felt joy, after her gorilla friend Michael died.

The headline: New 5% higher price cap means people will pay more this Jan THAN ANY WINTER BEFORE.
New 3mthly Price Cap Figures: From 1 Jan you'll pay 5% more on average (every ยฃ100 paid now goes to ยฃ105). For direct debit on average across UK:
ELEC: Unit rate: 28.62p/kwh (currently 27.35p) so up 4.6%. Standing charge unchanged at 53.37p
GAS: Unit rate: 7.42p/kwh (currently 6.89p) so up 7.6%. Standing charge unchanged at 29.6p7p
So bigger rises for gas households than electricity and proportionately bigger for higher users (due to impact of unit rates).
Yet the reason you'll pay so much more is as last winter every home got ยฃ66/mth govt reduction. You don't have that this winter. So while Oct 'inflation dropped due to cheaper energy bills' - that ignores the missing govt support, in reality we're paying more for energy...
For a home on typical use (meaningless figure but good for illustration)...
Jan 2023: ยฃ2,380/yr
Jan 2024: ยฃ1,928/yr
So per month (not seasonally adjusted)
Jan 2023: ยฃ198/mth
Jan 2024: ยฃ160/mth
Now factor in govt support
Jan 2023: ยฃ198 - ยฃ66 = ยฃ132/mth
Jan 2024: ยฃ160/mth
In other words a typical home pays ยฃ28/mth more this winter, or factor in seasonal adjustments due to high winter use and as a back of envelope calculation it is more like ยฃ45more.
@RichardEGrant I went through this with my mum 18 years ago and I still get tearful when I think about itโฆ the loss reflects how wonderful that person was โฆ somehow packing up their things feels like a betrayal and it sure hurts those left behind. Sending love to you and your family

Busy day today, firstly attending a fire on the hillside at Church Knowle and then being mobilised to the large heath fire at Studland. Crews will be damping down through the night and probably tomorrow too. #swanage#dorset#fire#dwfrs#studland#wildfire
