To all of those whining about artist's dropping out of the Freedom250 concert:
Ten years ago, Congress established the America 250 foundation to plan our nation's 250th birthday celebration and they've been working on it since.
Trump fired them all and set up his own Freedom 250 celebration focused only on highlighting MAGA and his accomplishments.
These artists were told they were performing at the first only to discover they would be appearing at the second.
This H-1B worker has lived in the US for nearly 20 years and built a family here. His mom was dying in India. To visit her, he would need to wait months to book a consular appointment--with the soonest one available likely being scheduled one year out.
He made the difficult choice of not visiting his dying mom because leaving without an appointment would mean separation from his children, job, and his other obligations.
Much of the commentary around immigration focuses on how such bureaucratic burdens undermine immigrants’ ability to contribute and innovate. But we must remember that this red tape also prevents these people from being fully engaged with their own lives and meaningfully present in the lives of others. This matters too, and these seemingly non-economic problems will eventually translate into economic costs.
If America is no longer a place where people feel empowered to be the best versions of themselves as they celebrate, struggle, and grieve, it ceases not just being the land of opportunity, but also the land of dignity and purpose.

USA, Aa country ranked 57th in global press freedom says it is worried about press freedom in European countries ranked 50 places above it.

🚨 Remember this: In 2000, Epstein’s house manager, Alfredo Rodriguez, compiled a list of victims and brought it to a lawyer.
The lawyer contacted the FBI.
The FBI ran a “sting.”
No traffickers arrested.
No victims interviewed.
No investigation.
Instead, Rodriguez was prosecuted for “stolen property.”
He went to prison. And died there.
The whistleblower paid the price. The predator walked free.
That’s the system.
Great sitting down with @BrianTylerCohen to talk about everything from the courage we saw in Minnesota, to how Democrats can be true to our values and get stuff done, to how we’re building a community of changemakers at the @ObamaFoundation. https://t.co/xyskxKbM8n
When you elected Trump you guaranteed that many Americans would feel embarrassed by their president. It's baked into the package of elevating someone with such flagrant moral failings to lead the country. You have no choice but to tolerate this because it's downstream of your actions
When the American athletes entered the stadium carrying the flag at the Winter Olympics opening ceremony on Friday, they were met with loud cheers.
But shortly afterwards, the cameras zoomed in on U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance and his wife Usha Vance.
In that very moment, the cheering turned into massive boos, making it clear to viewers around the world just how unpopular Vance is.
That is, viewers everywhere except the millions of Americans watching on NBC.
According to The Guardian, NBC had censored the boos from its broadcast. Unsurprisingly, the The White House also shared NBC’s clip of Vance — without the boos — rather than footage that included them.
As reported by The Guardian, this is not the first time American television networks have censored audience dissatisfaction directed at the Trump administration. At the US Open in September, broadcasters were reportedly instructed not to show crowd reactions when President Donald Trump appeared.

The fact that Vladimir Putin appears in the Epstein files roughly 1,000 times, without being accused as a predator himself, strongly suggests intelligence collection for blackmail purposes. If that is the case, then the Epstein matter is not just a criminal scandal but an immediate and emerging national security crisis. Congress should be investigating this starting tomorrow. We have no clear understanding of what leverage Putin may have gained over senior levels of the U.S. government, whether to extract state secrets or to shape decision-making itself. And given how Russian intelligence operates, it is naïve to think that any such information would not ultimately be shared with Xi Jinping and used for leverage on the global stage.
As I wrote last spring: If the U.S. military is given direct orders to seize Greenland—pull down another nation’s flag, and then claim the ground for America—every senior commander has a moral obligation to refuse to accept or support such a command.

Remember, Maduro is a highly corrupt leader, a known criminal who used his high office to make billions for himself, and has manipulated elections to stay in power, has used his military against his own citizens, has protected his corrupt friends and punished his political enemies. I imagine if we ever had a President like that, other countries might consider invading us to kidnap him too.
Here's how the Trump carousel plays out:
Whitkoff meets with Putin and conveys to Trump the demands for Ukraine's surrender;
Trump begins to pressure Ukraine to surrender;
The leaders of the EU, NATO, and Zelenskyy spend weeks trying to persuade Trump to accept a more or less fair peace plan;
Trump seems to agree and even starts putting some pressure on Putin;
Zelenskyy flies to a promising meeting with Trump;
Trump speaks with Putin before the meeting;
At the meeting, Trump accuses Zelenskyy of starting the war.
It all starts again.
As 2025 comes to a close, I'm continuing a tradition that I started during my time in the White House: sharing my annual lists of favorite books, movies, and music. I hope you find something new to enjoy—and please send any recommendations for me to check out!
It’s much worse than Munich Accord and Chamberlain. Trump was elected with Russian support and actively supports Putin. Republican Party refuses to stand up to him.
Chamberlain was trying to stop another European slaughterhouse.
Some like @RepDonBacon know it’s destroying America’s role in the world to side with a genocidal dictator murdering hundreds of thousands of innocents.
But where’s the action? The Republican Party is functioning as asset of Russian Federation.
All Republicans in Congress are faced with a choice. They either stand with Trump, Vance and Putin, or they stand with Ukraine, Europe, most Americans, and the civilized world. Of course, there is also a 3rd option which most of them usually choose - cowardly silence.
The fact that four hostile drones tried to hit Zelenskyy’s plane & it’s barely a blip in the news cycle should terrify everyone. We’ve been dragged so deep into the chaos era that an attempted strike on a world leader doesn’t even break through. When this becomes normal, the world is in real danger.
Members of the military swear an oath to uphold the Constitution and have a duty not to obey illegal orders.
That the Pentagon is investigating a member of Congress for pointing that out is yet another alarming step down an authoritarian path. https://t.co/z4YpBpWx1s
