Being inundated with angry messages from #pensioners who feel betrayed by the decision to scrap #triplelock Sadly, MPs rejected the @UKHouseofLords compromise and ploughed on with just 3.1%. How will they manage without the triple lock this year? https://t.co/EkRsdSSSK5
Here is the next note on social care reforms – the £86,000 cap is not what it seems & will save the wealthiest families from unlimited costs, but still means those living in homes with lower property value areas of the country can lose almost everything. https://t.co/hNyfp5brSd
@rosaltmann When will all state pensioners be able to claim they have a weekly retirement income of £179.60 a week or more instead of the majority on new state pension >6/4/16.
Let the old die off !
In Brief: Still no solid word from any opposition party on calling a parliamentary vote about the £20 a week Universal Credit cut. Whilst not being politically binding, it's surprising that opponents are slamming the cut but not calling for a vote. Hopefully this will change.
To those who might think their granny is a bit staid. This is how we were over 50 years ago, micro mini skirts. driving mini cars, in the pub at 14 (no ID), smoking a fat one, freedom.
The meagre rise in state benefits - disabled don’t get enough to buy a 2nd class stamp for a letter of complaint. A mother with one child gets 10p extra - not enough to take them to a public toilet. Pensioners got just 0.5% extra on some of their pension https://t.co/aBu2HT0SWX
The historic inequality in UK state pension benefits system is dismissed by many who use age rises as a banner.
Many women after a lifetime doing as expected of them have a retirement income of much less than £175.20 a week, all women are individual with basic needs.
My partner of over 20 years died in May from #Covid_19. She had underlying health issues but left behind three children. To those who say sacrificing vulnerable people to build up a 'herd immunity' is 'acceptable', I say what if this was your loved-one who had died unnecessarily?
Seems strange that despite a resurgence of #Covid_19 pubs and restaurants are still accepting customers but getting a face-to-face GP appointment is next to impossible.
Did you know? It was the #Tories (not #Labour) who introduced Disability Living Allowance (DLA), under John Major as #PM, after finally accepting that #disabled people face additional living costs that able-bodied people are not affected by. Sadly, it's been downhill ever-since.
What makes the gender pension gap the width it is as present !
perhaps its exaggerated by the many wives/partners never returning to full time work after raising/caring for family.
Always unpaid work to do & choices on how best to fit it in.
A Sunday announcement of a major change in the rights of people suspected of a crime. That’s eight months in jail without a trial and when they may be innocent. Eight months.
These are handouts and there is nothing wrong with that. All state aid from universal credit to HS2 is equal. If you’re trying to distinguish yourselves from people on benefits don’t. It belittles your campaign.
In 1993 Jeremy Corbyn wanted to equalise state pension age at 60 for men & women and increase state pension amount paid.
Was it affordable, was it well debated

@DeborahFSussex @TheHouseLive Did thousands of women never work
Did many women work part time in 2+ jobs
Did husbands pay in enough2 cover their wives state pensions
Did women earn a SP through husbands contributions
The SP system was designed4 men2 financially look after wives in retirement-didn't work well
