“As someone who relies on the state for my survival, I have a healthy distrust of giving it any more power over my life than it already has. Though some people want the right to die, many of us are still fighting for the right to exist.”

This MPs letter illustrates misunderstanding & fear of ordinary dying.
All MPs should be required to attend detailed briefing on ordinary dying, pall care, the real but rare difficult deaths, & assessment of capacity, provided by non-campaigning experts.

Proud to have taken part in ITV's timely investigation into the crisis in hospice funding.
The film airs the night before MPs will vote on the AD bill.
I hope they all watch it to see how appallingly the NHS fails many dying patients through underfunding of palliative care 😔
There is nothing safe about the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill, but a fundamental misunderstanding of its impact on medicine. We have got to fix palliative care first and foremost, yet this Bill draws more resources away from providing care. I will vote against.
This is the Covid Memorial wall in London. It took me a full 10 minutes to walk its length in 2022.
Then, there were 197,635 Covid deaths.
Now, there are >230k. Boris Johnson’s unforgivable legacy.
Then, we had no power.
Now, finally, we do.

Due to the success of the first two years of The Blossom Project will now be called The Blossom Service, as it is officially an ongoing service the Trust and Charity are providing 🌸
Congratulations to those involved in ensuring its permanence! 👏

I defy anyone to read this extraordinarily candid, harrowing & heartbreaking account of the truth of a crippled NHS oncology system & not burn with rage for how this government has decimated the NHS & failed NHS patients.
Please, please read & share 😔

Correct and the current crisis has been coming - and predicted - for several years. Its root causes are a political failure to act sooner and more effectively and a policy failure to tackle rising demand for care by fully engaging the public in prevention and early intervention
To put in context multi millionaire Nadhim Zahawi threatening nurses & ambulance paramedics with bringing in soldiers to break their strike, it’s worth remembering his expenses claim which included heating his horses’ stables was more than a nurse on starting pay is asking for.
Have now heard colleagues reporting some physios using food banks and others leaving community roles due to transport costs. Fighting for fair pay has to be the main way the @thecsp community responds but if you are in need now do ask @CSPMBF for financial help.
