Would-be playwright/screenwriter from a working-class background, East London. Opera lover. Particularly interested in women’s stories. Hello to Jason Isaacs.
Is it just me? There is currently not one political party in the UK that adequately represents my views as a woman, as a mother, as a business owner, as a human being, as a writer. I know partly politics are imperfect. I know we all have to put up with general categories. But for the love of Pete, you think there would be one party that roughly reflected my views. I'm so done.
Last year, Govt won a £122m judgment against Douglas Barrowman and Michelle Mone's company PPE Medpro, for supplying defective PPE
The company had been emptied of cash and collapsed
Now its liquidators are suing Barrowman, Mone and associated companies personally

Of the 14 senior leaders at CCG/ICB level, only 4 agreed to give evidence. Of 66 senior managers at @nottmhospitals only 35 actually engaged with the review just 53%.
This is shocking behaviour by supposed NHS leaders.
Rochelle Garcia Hermida, EU Parliment member, strongly criticized the invitation of the Taliban to Brussels during an open session of the parliament. She said that this action grants the Taliban international legitimacy and intensifies the suppression of women in Afghanistan.
This is what it comes down to ultimately: that people in senior positions in a trust are held accountable for failings, and not moved on to another cushy post somewhere else.
Pornography: There are two streams of research, one on porn's impacts on sexually violent and sexist attitudes and behaviour, the other on dysregulated or compulsive porn use. A new paper explores how these may interrelate.

ANDREW MALKINSON SPENT 8 EXTRA YEARS IN PRISON AFTER THE REAL RAPIST'S DNA WAS ALREADY ON FILE
Andrew Malkinson was convicted in 2004 for a rape he did not commit. He served over 17 years, because the system decided maintaining your innocence is the wrong move if you want parole. Lying gets you out. Telling the truth keeps you in.
Greater Manchester Police @gmpolice and the Crown Prosecution Service had a DNA profile from the victim's clothing that did not match Malkinson by 2009.
The real attacker, Paul Quinn, already had a 1993 conviction for raping a 12 year old girl. His DNA finally entered the national database in 2012.
Nobody searched it.
The Criminal Cases Review Commission @ccrcupdate rejected Malkinson's appeals in 2009 and again in 2018, the second time backed by charity APPEAL.
APPEAL investigator James Burley says neither GMP nor the CCRC ran a fresh database search until 2022, after APPEAL forced the issue.
That gap cost Malkinson eight more years behind bars while Quinn lived freely.
Quinn stood trial in March 2026. His ex wife testified he left home the night of the attack in a shirt matching the victim's description. He had also searched online for Malkinson's innocence campaign back in 2019 and later searched how long DNA stays on a database.
Convicted in April, sentenced in June to 24 years, 21 in custody plus a 3 year extended licence.
Malkinson's own conviction came from a 10 to 2 majority jury verdict. He has since campaigned against majority verdicts.
He also lived in a tent in Spain and survived on universal credit for 19 months before any compensation arrived in February 2025.
CCRC chair Helen Pitcher resigned in January 2025 before the Justice Secretary could remove her.
Chief executive Karen Kneller followed her out after being accused of trying to sanitise an internal report on the case.
A public inquiry led by judge Sarah Munro is still running, with five former GMP officers and one serving officer under investigation.
GMP apologised. Malkinson called it meaningless. Eight wasted years says he had a point.

In Afghanistan, the Taliban government has banned most women from working and severely restricts their ability to earn or manage money independently. As a result, many widows, unmarried women, and those without male guardians are left with few options for survival and must often beg outside mosques to feed themselves and their families.

My daughter waited 3 days at Worcester Royal Infirmary for an “urgent induction” bc she had a low Papp -A pregnancy and low birthweight baby. All the usual problems: not enough staff, no beds, no available theatre, no available NICU place
On Wednesday, Dame Donna Ockenden will unveil the findings of the largest maternity inquiry in NHS history, examining the deaths and injuries of hundreds of babies and the experiences of more than 2,400 families.
The inquiry into stillbirths, neonatal deaths, brain injuries and maternal deaths within Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust comes as police carry out a wider criminal investigation into its alleged maternity failings.
But across the country, there are deeper worries. That what happened in Nottinghamshire is not a one-off but speaks to something deeper about the culture of Britain’s maternity services.
The Telegraph spoke to women who are fighting to ensure the harm they and their families endured is never repeated ⬇️

Let's tackle a common misconception: lots of people on Universal Credit have jobs.
Bills are rising, rents are sky-high, food prices are by 37% - and wages don't stretch to cover it all nowadays.
Even with a Universal Credit top up, people still can't afford everything they need to live.

Forensic analysis later confirmed the substance was Kidd’s semen.

“For this regime, women are not a side issue...The control of women is central to its identity. That is exactly what frightens the regime – not just a woman singing, but a woman acting as if she is free.”
