Greetings from Kuala Lumpur!
This marks the beginning of a four-day trip to Southeast Asia — I’ll be visiting Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore.

🤝 We are strengthening relations with Southeast Asian countries. On Saturday, I will sign a cooperation agreement between Finland and ASEAN.

💫 We are promoting exports and economic relations. We will highlight the expertise and solutions of Finnish companies — with the goal, of course, of boosting Finland’s economic growth.

📱 We are deepening our technology diplomacy. I will emphasize that Finland is a reliable technology provider, and we will learn from the region’s AI practices and strategies.

🇺🇦 Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine is, of course, on the agenda in all my meetings. I will speak in support of Ukraine and for a sustainable and just peace, and underline the long-term threat that Russia poses to both the transatlantic community and the international rules-based order.

Ukraine's Independence Day is celebrated on Sunday, 24 August. Finland supports Ukraine in its fight for independence. The 🇫🇮MFA will show its support for Ukraine by raising 🇺🇦flags in front of its main building & illuminating the building with the colors of the Ukrainian flag.

Today we celebrate Ukraine’s Independence Day 🇺🇦

This is already the fourth time Ukrainians have had to mark the day while defending their homeland — and the whole of Europe. Ukraine, however, is not alone. Finland and Finnish society as a whole stand firmly with Ukraine, together with our partners. Every day we work to achieve a sustainable and just peace.

I was honoured today to greet the crowds gathered at Senate Square to mark Ukraine’s Independence Day. Peace must prevail.
