Holy Scripture contains all things necessary for salvation, such that whatever cannot be read therein or proved thereby is not to be required of any person to be believed as an article of faith, or be thought necessary for salvation.
@spencerg83 If Joseph smith produced an authorized corrected translation of the Bible, there’s no excuse for your church not to use it.
Unless they know it’s not legit.
Y’all know of any YouTube videos on Christian epistemology that are both good and interesting?
(I don’t want to fall asleep listening to a dry lecture)
@spencerg83 Wait do you seriously not know that we have the writings of the church fathers? And that they talk about this specific verse?

@spencerg83 Gee I dunno maybe the church fathers? The guys closest in time to the apostles? Certainly not a conman like Joseph smith and people who got duped by him.
@spencerg83 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
— Matthew 16:18
Wrong. Says right there: the church will not fail.
@spencerg83 The apostasy of the last days is not the same thing as Hell prevailing against the church.
If you truly think the church died in the first century, you believe Jesus broke His promise.
@spencerg83 If the authority to baptize was lost, then Christ lied when He promised the gates of hell would not prevail against His Church. Either His promise in Matthew 16:18 is true, or He failed.
@spencerg83 Why? It’s not like I believe only Anglican baptisms are valid. I was baptized as a kid in a Baptist church. And Roman Catholics recognize my baptism as valid, just like I recognize their baptisms as valid. Because we’re all Christians.
