As a member of the Atlanta Writer’s Club, I enjoy ‘painting’ vivid, funny, lyrical, and heart-pounding art thru words. P.S. I'm also known as K.A. Hamdy-Swink.
@feathertales Looking thru old photos, I ran across my Double-Delight rose photo, seemingly in prayer, as it bloomed—appropriate as I was experimenting with a new-to-me vintage mid-1970 Nikkor lens. Maybe one day another rose garden will come my way.
@tomcolgan14 Hi Tom, Kathy Hamdy-Swink here... Enjoyed "behind-the-scenes!" Tried to DM & your mailbox not allowing. I'm at [email protected] or @anneswan . Besides AI ?, have a low-cost industry-wide marketing idea—booksellers/authors think it'll help w $ & readers love/want it.
@tomcolgan14 Another topic narration: saw a few best seller’s head hopping w omniscient narration. My ?: is AI being used to help marketing? fwiw: love hearing “lifecycle” of a novel once it’s in your hands and other biz $, distro/sales aspects. But might be the *odd* writer on that interest.
@DavidSwan5 TYVM. Yes it is!! Btw, Susan Swann’s my ‘swan’ sister & published author…perhaps we need a writerly Swan brother? And don’t forget to add your very prestigious award to your query bio.
@tomcolgan14 I’m sorry to hear you’re going thru what my husband was forced to do, in a towers (with tons of extra space) in Atlanta. Sooo…Expect the quality of calls-to-home/loved ones to change too. Ie We don’t like being “openly-overheard.”Ie maybe that’ll be Merriam’s that new 2027 word?
@RhodiHawk Birdwatching with Gracie. Teddie’s on the other side of my rocking chair. BTW Henrietta Hummingbird is home for her 7th summer, AND the NF short story I wrote about her friendship won: runner up for Rick Bragg Non-fiction (3000 words) with the ATL writers group annual contest!!
@bullypulpiteer@tonymo@JamesLucasIT Questioning it too. That said, chlorine (or a form of it) was used in packaging fresh chicken starting in the mid-60’s. My (skinny) dad & other food scientist came up with that for extending shelf life… maybe that + plastic wraps etc began affecting metabolism or autoimmune?
@SamHornIntrigue Yes. Curiosity would be my guess. Could the new table holds more value than the other left behind? Value being defined in a multitude of ways. And the inner child’s desire to be accepted might be at play too!
@DavidSwan5 TY Dave for this post! Got badly chastised yesterday, by a critique group member, for being such a slow writer. It’s “love for learning”to enrich characters & depth of story that set my turtle pace—while pesky ‘wabbits’ keep digging out more holes! Hope your querying is golden.
@feathertales P.S. Photo by K. A. Hamdy-Swink of Stegman Coliseum. Taken with an old iPhone 12 Mini, after a 2025 GymDogs meet in Athens. i.e. one of my hallowed grounds with nourishing cold-water fountains.
@HachetteUS Yes, to magical times curled up with #books, but . . . (fyi) most nights in the US get *shorter* not longer—starting tomorrow. Cheers to longer days and Hachette BG for publishing wonderful books!!
Anyone else #comet-watching”? It’s taken my bird watching imagination to the next level, probably b/c of witnessing a UFO between Belcher and Shreveport LA the summer of ‘78 with a group of gymnasts coming home from a movie. https://t.co/bqrPzkmP6J
@tomcolgan14 You’ll do great!! Wish I was there. What also fascinates me—but prob not others—about your pie: how the physical life of a book goes from order, printer, distro/shipper, seller, buyer, reader, and/or sadly shredder. And how y’all forecast! Have fun!
@tomcolgan14 LOL -AJ’s all rescued from my black caldron with spiders, webs, and hidden candy. I, the Snow Witch, required ~100 kids to gather round: “Do you want a Trick or (eerie) Treat?” Mixed replies. W witch voice) “So what do U like to do in snow?” Fun answer — taking turns to stir!
@HachetteUS Very informative site! Enjoyed reading about efficiency improvements and environmental stewardship projects. My husband is in industrial (comm) real estate, so this portion of your business is just as fascinating as book publishing. Any geo thermal for heating being considered?
What a delight! Wanda Morris and @HankPRyan@FoxTale bookstore talking about enlightening, funny, & poignant stories: their books + lives as touring authors. Hank’s latest ALL THIS COULD BE YOURS is out now! Grab a copy, sit back, and brace yourself. Can’t wait to read mine.
