This isn’t harm reduction. It’s institutionalised delusion and it would be hilarious if it weren’t so utterly lethal
Let me be blunt: no country on Earth has ever successfully legalised or decriminalised Class A drugs without unleashing a Pandora’s box of misery addiction, death, and chaos spilling out in every direction. Yet somehow, we’re meant to believe that Scotland with collapsing services and the highest drug death rate in Europe will be the one to crack it. I've written extensively about how this has been tried elsewhere if you dare to look beyond the facebook memes and legalisers propaganda - start here

@kmckenna63 in today's @heraldscotland tears into John Swinney’s plan to decriminalise all drugs — and rightly so.
More than 1,100 people died from drugs last year. The SNP has had nearly 20 years to get treatment and recovery working, yet Swinney would rather blame Westminster and listen to campaigners than face families and communities living with the consequences.
He wants more powers. I want him to answer for what he has done with the powers he already has.

So much to say, but I’m put in mind of George Bernard Shaw: “I learned long ago, never to wrestle with a pig. You get dirty, and besides, the pig likes it.”
Absolutely bloody shameful. Scotland’s children get one education. When the results expose how badly they are being served, those responsible question the value of measuring them.
Read Lindsay Paterson’s Lessons from Scottish Schools Why Knowledge Matters. His argument is devastating: reforms promoted in the name of equality have weakened attainment and widened inequality.
Neglecting knowledge does particular damage to children who depend on school to provide what their families cannot. There is nothing progressive about leaving them knowing less.
I recognise the pattern from addiction policy. Institutions defend their reputations, while the ministers elected to hold them accountable supply the excuses. Evidence becomes an inconvenience to be explained away. Challenging failure becomes an attack on the supposedly compassionate principles behind it.
It takes extraordinary arrogance to preside over declining standards and widening inequality while still congratulating yourself on your progressive principles.
You can lose your job, your livelihood or even your liberty for saying the wrong thing in Britain. Michael Reiners argues it's time to rip up the censorship rulebook and bring back free speech. https://t.co/rPXXsAWOm8
Mad how Axel Rudakubana's genocidal ancestry has no bearing on his Welsh Choirboyness, even though his parents moved here right before his birth, but I'm completely responsible for Transatlantic slavery 500 years ago.
Deranged woke fundamentalists disrupt @jtworr’s lecture at Cambridge. They’re trying to drive the last bit of viewpoint diversity out of Cambridge.
University needs to discipline these students immediately and make it clear that what Adorno termed ‘left-wing fascism’ won’t be tolerated.
As with the harassment of Kathleen Stock, this is vital in order to protect Orr’s academic freedom.
If it fails to do so, Cambridge must be investigated by the @Oh_FFS_tweets. cc: @ComAcFreedom.
Following All Hallow's Eve, today is the Feast of All Saints - known and unknown.
If they are unknown to you, you might like to find out about them.
The lives of the many Saints are remarkable, and you may find one whose inspirational example speaks to you in particular.
Women are being killed in Scotland and I fear we are getting used to it…..strong words from Karyn McCluskey CEO of Community Justice Scotland telling it like it is. Karyn never sugar coats reality. She has seen the human cost of the increasing violence that means the most dangerous place in Scotland for many women is her own home and as a result thousands of children are living in terror. This is why we launched It’s Time…the carnage must end now!
🚨 Donald Dewar will be turning in his grave!
➡️ The Donald Dewar Debater of the Year award for the best speech.
And among the nominees? Lorna Slater and Karen Adam! 🤡🤡
There's nothing left in the barrel to scrape.

Especially when you consider that education, not incremental increases in welfare payments, is the most powerful tool and equaliser for breaking the cycle of poverty and building a secure future for our youth.
@Annemarieward 🎯 "Evidence becomes an inconvenience to be explained away. Challenging failure becomes an attack on (its) supposedly compassionate principles." 🎯
In many areas; child protection, forced marriage, FGM prosecutions. Evidence is ok to signal virtue, but not to see performance.
Especially when you consider that education, not incremental increases in welfare payments, is the most powerful equaliser and route out of poverty for our youth.
Still, we should remember that the childhood and teenage years of a person's life are deeply formative and largely determine their adult character, values, habits, and worldview.
Method in the madness?

First they came for the teaching unions.
And I cheered.
Then they came for the rest of the McBlob.
And I cheered again.
Column on the rot within the Scottish educational establishment.

We’ve got a private room lined up at a venue in Glasgow’s West End, with the option of a bite to eat and drinks. Thinking Saturday evening, 14th or 21st November. If you fancy coming along, send me a DM and let me know which date suits you. Be lovely to put some faces to the names!
