THREAD:
I was recently blocked by a fellow socialist, for asking something (I thought perfectly reasonable) about the 'transgender vs women's right debate.
And when reasonable questions get you blocked, well then I think you have to go on asking them, don't you?
So here goes.
I'm a criminal lawyer. I represent paedophiles, murderers, con-men, rapists. I see the human race in the raw. And I know this:
-If a system can be played, someone WILL play it.
-Where there’s vulnerability, someone WILL exploit it.
-Whatever the depth, someone WILL plumb it.
Tired of seeing people's pronouns attached to their signature? Check out this letter a client sent to her lawyer's firm. The pronouns were removed: https://t.co/m0S4iH1ASj
Seeing practitioners take to Twitter about yet another try at implementing EOH is so disheartening: the reality of exhaustion, working during precious family time, not sleeping or using holidays to work to keep up with vast caseloads.
There are no hours left to be extended into.
This sounds brilliant - if I wasn’t full of diabetes and baby I would join with her @PaddyTofu so hoping someone else in Walthamstow could take my place! #loveWalthamstow
Longshot, but worth a go. My 13 yr old daughter trains Brazilian jiu-jitsu in Walthamstow at the excellent Eddie Kone Academy. She's the only girl, it would be great if another girl joined the club (Tue and Thu 5.45-6.45).
1. Very expensive? It's a printed booklet Michael, which probably cost a couple of quid per copy, if that.
2. It was sent from a distribution centre, because we weren't going to mail them all by hand. Very suspicious.
3. It was a joint project, between Oxford University and
Sorry, but I don’t think they’re going to make a ‘Billy Elliot’ type film out of your Winchester College, Oxford, Hedge Fund, marry billionaire daughter story mate. Get on with the job.
So tell me again...?
They are "Stopping the Labour Lock Out" and "Standing up for Labour Party Democracy" by removing women from platforms because of opinions they supposedly hold?
Our movement is doomed unless it drops this kind of rubbish.

@CMcgourlay@Esmenich @EMaryQ @Mark_George_QC @CrimeGirI@BarristerSecret@AbenaaOB@daniellejmanson@gardencourtlaw "No face, no case, no evi" was a line in an insanely catchy drill song that featured in a case -- the premise being that if your face was covered and therefore not captured on CCTV, there was no evidence, therefore no case.
8 counsel were humming it for weeks.
@CrimeLineLaw @NED_173Y The one and only argument I can think of for doing away with juries is the apparently very real danger that Simon Jenkins might be sitting on one.
Other than that, what a load of ill-informed drivel.
@ReasonAboveAll@BarristerSecret God yes, weren't they awful
"Will we discuss whether the jury get to hear this evidence?"
"Yes, let's"
"Will we have that discussion *in front of* the jury?"
"But of course!"
