She stood there in a plain black shirt, the words “I am a bookstore staff member” written boldly across it. Her posture was straight and dignified, almost defiant in its composure.

On her face was an eerie calm — a quiet resignation that seemed to say: “We have finally arrived at this moment.”

Overall, Young Washington made me much more interested in the Revolutionary time period. I guess it was seeing a depiction of my own country in a dramatic light that sparked my imagination (I'd love a movie about early Minnesota native peoples and settlers).

I also really appreciated the inclusion of Native Americans in the story, in fact multiple groups with different interests. What I've realized from watching so many Chinese historical dramas is how a story can make multiple parties, even enemy sides, seem sympathetic.

Young Washington had the challenging task of portraying a society and characters who don't necessarily see slavery as wrong, while the viewers do (thankfully), so it had to depict and yet not comment on that society. I'd love more exploration of this in the sequel "1776".

I really enjoyed Young Washington. I appreciated the acknowledgment of slavery at the time; though the movie couldn't delve into it deeply, it portrayed the reality of enslaved people in that weird time of history.

得知金牧师获释，同时因自身失联九载且身患重病、白细胞极低，正在接受放化疗，故恳请信徒为他祷告，期盼能早日获准回国与家人团聚。
曹牧师回顾其多年来在海外（如贵州、缅甸、尼泊尔）从事扶贫、建校及推广中华文化的爱国善举，强调自己一贯遵守政教分离、未攻击中国政府。近期因拒绝前往“三自”聚会而与工作人员发生争执，虽已请律师沟通但仍感身心俱疲。

文章最后收录一首信徒所作祷告诗，祈求其战胜病魔、恢复健康。

我昨天一早发了几个字，说，金牧师获释，并已经抵达彼岸的L A，并配有他的照片。到了8点钟，我借我母亲的手机，从她的微信去我的朋友圈，却根本看不到那一条，我这才意识到，那条消息被和谐了。

到了下午，金牧师到彼岸的消息大家基本上已经知道了。还有许多弟兄姐妹纷纷给我留言，祝愿我会是下一个回美国与家人团聚的人。我与家人分离已经9年多了，其中包括7年在高墙中。我目前又身患重病，似乎理当获得有关方面的人道关怀。

我回到长沙后，本地的政府工作人员对我一直很好，我也尽可能按照他们的要求去做。说到底，我一直对我们的政府心怀善意。我于1996年就在贵州扶贫，独资建了一所希望小学捐给了当地的村庄，解决了几百孩子的就学问题。我2012年开始去缅甸建设扶贫小学，教授汉语，推广中华文化，并从事戒毒服侍。云南的毒品都是从缅甸过来的。我等于是深入敌后，“曲线救国”，为民族做贡献。我和上百名基督徒在缅甸服侍，建立的二十几所小学、中学。无论从哪个角度看，不仅帮助了缅甸穷人，对中国也都是大有裨益的。这期间，我还带领过中国基督徒去尼泊尔赈灾。帮助尼泊尔灾民的同时，也算是为国争了一点点面子。

我在海外漂泊几十年，从来是远离政治，恪守政教分离原则，从来没有攻击过我们的政府。我可以问心无愧地说，我是个爱国的基督徒。当然，在我看来，中国的基督徒都是爱国人士。绝无任何中国基督徒要颠覆这个国家或政府。

我出来后，对于回美，其实并不看重，因为我觉得我的日子还长，神叫我在中国多呆就多呆些年月。但现在心境有点不一样了。老了，病了，就有点多愁善感。我特别渴慕与家人团聚，特别是看一眼我那个可爱的孙子，他还有十多天就一周岁了，我却还没有抱过他。有时，我也会暗自流泪。谢谢大家的关心，请继续为我祷告。求主开门，让我回家一趟。

得病后，很多弟兄姐妹纷纷给我留言，叫我一定要有喜乐的心，这是战胜病魔的有效武器。我每天都快快乐乐，只是偶尔会生气。我最近一直咳嗽，医生叮嘱我不要见人，不要说话，因为我的白细胞在放疗后很低了，容易感染生病。但有时，不愉快的事总会发生。例如，昨天上午（就是主日上午），几个人为难我，不许我在家见十来位访客。说我这是在搞非法活动，我就大声与这几个壮汉理论起来，我当然占理，因为我的权利是受宪法保护的，只是这事真的非常耗费我的体力，与他们理论了一个小时。

这几个壮汉要求我们去“三自”聚会，我说，我们与“三自”不是一回事，他们说，去三自”就是遵纪守法。我表示，“三自”讲的内容我们不太认同。他们又说，“三自”有很多房间，给你们一间房，在里面活动好了。我说，那也不行，走进“三自”门，我们就是跳进黄河也洗不清了。

最后，我叫来我的律师，让我的律师去与他们沟通，算是没有把我的精力彻底消耗殆尽。只是回到家中，还是把我累趴了。本来好了咳嗽，又咳起来。

我和大家的看见是，能坚持一天就要坚持一天。我目前的白细胞很低，昨天打了升白针。同时，我的血小板也非常低。总之，停止放疗后，头几个礼拜是非常关键的恢复期。请大家为我举手。

昨天有位弟兄给我写了首祷告诗，我抄录如下，并向他和所有关心我的弟兄姐妹们表示感谢：

我有所念人，沉疴在远方；
我有拳拳意，百转系肝肠，
途遥难亲侍，朝暮祈穹苍；
前路未可测，无夜不思量，
况此疗中虐，怅怅然惶惶，
放化伤肌骨，营养保安康，
天父恩泽厚，祷告安可忘。

Currently re-watching Zhan Zhao Adventures and Sword Snow Stride (SSS leaves a feeling I can't shake, I've been thinking about it ever since my last re-watch).

My three favorite C-dramas of 2026 are Pursuit of Jade, How Dare You!, and most recently, Zhan Zhao Adventures. They are very different from each other but really deliver those payoff moments.
