#Rotachhäuser (1928-29) on Wasserwerkstrasse above river Limmat are exquisite #modernism in #Zurich! 3 cubes are set off against each other, one containing flats, the left ones are houses. The red pilotis reveal the conrete structure! #LeCorbusier
Designed as an apartment building in 1932 , this #Tokyo#modern#architecture today is being used by galleries and antique shops. Interesting plan: Architect #RyōichiKawamoto placed the beautifully tiled staircases just next to each other.
A contemporary interpretation of the #Paris limestone building. I saw it in October in VIème and was ravished by its presence and contextuality, its solidity and momentum. Merci à #vitruvius les #architectes Jean- Christophe Quinton, Charles Rosenfeld and https://t.co/L8d49nxJAN
I love the depth in its volumetry with protruding and recessing living rooms creating great views to the Raspail Boulevard in #Paris. Such beautiful corner-windows, although I doubt the originality of these 45•windows on the 2nd picture. Careful detailing by #PolAbraham in 1932.
The #Tzara House from 1926 is - as opposed to its context in Montmarte - forced to absolute symmetry. From the hyper-scaled base to the similar entrances: It‘s disturbing - or #dada. #Loos‘ raumplan reveals: No constraints, pure functionality and a truly modern concept of space.
Atelier #Ozenfant: It was #LeCorbusiers first commission in @Paris - finally I made it there! Sad are the changes but, hey - it‘s truly from 1922! I.e. well before his other white cubes. I love how he dissolved the window-ceiling-vertex, which survived at least at the corner.
But what I did not know until I went there, are the beautifully vaulted arcade-types, since the plan is frequenty cropped at the top. These seven houses on two levels with 85 sqm anticipate the lightness of the 1950ies - and that was 1926. So happy to travel again!
I knew already from sociology-class @ETH what people did to @Villedepessac housing by #LeCorbusier of 1926. It wasn’t that bad in 2022-reality: The checkerboard-type with 6 units on two levels in a row and the skycraper-type, each with 2 houses on 4 levels.
Tomorrow is our #docomom_de conference „modern movement, infrastructure and utilities“ live from #BauhausDessau@gropiusallee. I am so curious about the technical concepts of #modernism and how to deal with them in refurbishment and preservation.
Beautifully refurbished holiday house on the fjord of @stadt_kiel by architect #RudolfSchroeder (1897-1965). Thank you @NDRsh! Just one little comment: Please don‘t call #modernism a „style“. https://t.co/IHylBLo5AI
3-minute-movie from #Hamburg#Denkmalverein for the 1965 parking garage on Roedingsmarkt 14 by #Sprotte&Neve with young #VolkwinMarg. The round central space is lit by a perforated cuppola and equipped with a speedy double helix ramp for circulation. https://t.co/15lnGUjOe3
