Thus, NHP sera are suitable for the antigenic characterization of SARS-CoV-2 variants, which is particularly important in context of absence of human single exposure sera.
Antigenic maps are integral part of strain selection process of COVID-19 vaccines.
Here we show that BA.2.86, JN.1, KP.2, KP.3 and KZ.1.1.1 occupy a distant antigenic region, highlighting the antigenic evolution away from previous variants.
Thus we conclude that NHP sera are suitable for the antigenic characterization of SARS-CoV-2 variants, which is particularly important in the context of absence of human single exposure sera.
Our new brief report on the neutralization of Omicron subvariant BA.2.87.1 is now out on @Els_Vaccine! A great and rapid team effort from @AnnikaRoessler@mrowe1625@airisyc@BarouchLab

Special thanks to my friends and previous colleagues at Medizinische Universität Innsbruck (@JanineKimpel@LydiaRiepler @imed_tweets) for so many years we laughed and learned together !!
Excited to share that I recently joined the @BarouchLab@harvardmed/@BIDMChealth as a postdoctoral fellow.
Leaving #Innsbruck wasn't easy for me, but I'm happy to continue my academic career in #Boston to dive deeper into the world of viral infections and vaccine development.
