To achieve the #GlobalGoals, we must #EndStatelessness.
Having a nationality is a fundamental human right.
All stateless people deserve the chance to say #IBelong.

The blaring dichotomy in #migration and #immigration, in the treatment between those who have money and those who do not have “enough” of it, is a direct hit to the core values that we are supposed to stand for. It is a failure with a heavy cost.
"Statelessness divides families and forces them to make desperate choices."

We demand nation states to stop denying stateless people's right to identity documentation and acknowledge that stateless people also have an identity.
"Al-Onan belongs to Kuwait’s Bidoon minority, who are denied citizenship and social and economic rights. They are believed to number around 100,000 and suffer extensive discrimination in housing, healthcare, education, and employment." #Bidoon#Stateless

#Ukraine's #stateless have been left out of the "privilage" of being #refugees, #IDPs, or #humanitarian aid. They are the forgotten victims of #war. Read about it in our new contribution in #Oxford's FMR journal: https://t.co/30z10ZHZiZ
The article looks at how restricting #Birthright citizenship can have profound effects & foster racial exclusion, as in the Dominican Rep., which is the model for US restrictionists. See the ominous link btw. such efforts & slavery, abolished 150 yrs ago: https://t.co/cZC5in2Rde
2/2 #Statelessness & #Racism: Stateless people often face racism and xenophobia in countries where they reside or seek asylum. This may lead to discrimination, social exclusion and limited access to essential services, increasing their vulnerability. Speak up against #Injustice!
1/2 #Statelessness & #Racism: Racial prejudice & discriminatory policies can contribute to the denial of #Nationality and #CitizenshipRights to certain ethnic or racial groups, disproportionately exposing them to statelessness.
#Australia: Is the continent with lowest #Statelessness figures. Most cases involve stateless immigrants who have sought protection there. Children of stateless parents born in Australia have the right to acquire Australian citizenship.🌏
Everyone has the right to a nationality ‼️

Dominican Republic: Authorities must end racist treatment and guarantee the right to nationality https://t.co/paYLFquABw
@ApatrideNetwork Thank you for this timeline and for raising awareness about how widespread the issue of statelessness in Europe was and unfortunately still is!
#Europe has a a long #history of making its own people #stateless. Why don't we know about it? After all, #statelessness was "how" the atrocities of the 1930s and 1940s were made possible, legally, under the auspices of domestic courts, political apparatus and society at large.
#Americas: The US aren't typically associated with widespread #Statelessness. However, approx. 218,000 people are considered to be #stateless. On the continent, primarily Haitians and Indigenous peoples are affected. 🌎
2/2 #Africa: Côte d'Ivoire is officially the country most affected by #Statelessness on the continent, with approx. 700,000–955,000 cases. Most of the stateless population consists of migrant workers from Burkina Faso, Guinea & Mali and their descendants from the colonial era. 🌍
