I think more people need to hear this, honestly.

A lot of vtubers use flirting as part of the entertainment: it’s fun, it’s playful, it builds energy with chat. But that doesn’t automatically translate into IRL interest or open the door to anything deeper.

There’s a big difference between enjoying the vibe of a stream and crossing into someone’s personal life. Respecting that line is what keeps things comfortable for everyone. And not EVERY VTuber is okay with flirting to begin with (like me, plz don't flirt with me 😭)

There’s an important factor people are missing in the Chibi/KF situation.

I’ve been in net culture for 20 years. This is not business as usual.

By actual lolcow standards, Chibi barely registers. He’s not Chris-Chan. He’s a dorky weeb who sometimes posts cringe and got brutally betrayed by his ex. Plenty of people react worse to harassment.

“This has crossed into legal territory. Discussion of IRL actions is done. Keep going at your own risk.”

They didn’t. That was the fatal error.

Biggest difference between 2006 and 2026?

Internet anonymity is now a polite suggestion at best.

Old herd immunity (hide in the noise + proxies) is dead. Modern tools; Palantir-style AI forensics, behavioral analysis, device fingerprinting, cross-platform graphing, don’t get tired or lose focus.
