@ReutersAsia Rare yes, but also very fleeting. If they fail to get their act together in time it will all have been for nothing. Elections are 3 years away.
@business If tomorrow Kamala Harris starts protesting in front of the White House, and breaches security the Secret Service will detain her too. You can and should disagree with Modi and Trump, but you cannot breach an executive's security cover.
@business Interesting, was he detained or arrested?
In any event executive protection for the PM (following Rahul's own grandmother's assassination in 84) mandates that anyone be removed near the PM's residence, it is merely SOP. And Rahul definitely knows this.
@pushkarprasad11@MichaelKugelman It won't work, in addition to border guarding paramilitary forces India has 313K CRPF personnel, 100K home guards in Delhi, and 50K Delhi police. Tomorrow 20K CRPF will show up, the entire home guard around Delhi will be mobilised, and the Delhi police will seal the border.
@AdityaRajKaul Violent regime change is impossible given the size of CAPF forces in Delhi, it will take a foreign invasion to bring regime change (which will anyway be well past nuclear red lines for South Block). Rest easy Aditya sahab, they can't reach Lodhi Road/Defence Colony.
@praveenswami@etihad Older Indian companies that cater to the public always have the same excuse for substandard service, that is the masses should be grateful for whatever they get. Startups have changed this mentality, but it doesn't apply to capital intense industries like airlines.
@ianbremmer If what happened to her occurred in a poor country then the world would be questioning that nations democratic credentials and considering sanctions or military action (like in Venezuela). @ianbremmer
@nadeemgis@MichaelKugelman@ForeignPolicy Most of China's naval fleet is in the South China Sea, including all three Chinese Carrier strike groups. India has 2 carrier strike groups in the Indian ocean, in above surface warfare it has a much larger presence than the Chinese PLAN.
@ImranRjn@MichaelKugelman@ForeignPolicy The Taliban will not align itself with non Muslims like India's current government. Why would they? It is against their faith to do so, and they seem pretty devout. What makes you think they'll even accept Indian help?
@FarhadJarralPK@ethrelkeld@ForeignAffairs More importantly, India never pointed the finger at Pakistan at all, didn't even report it as an attack till much later. The November bombing might have little to do with the rivalry. Pakistan's own capital was attacked a day later, maybe its a common threat?
@goro2bojo@business Lmao, but seriously India already has vast Thorium reserves and according to the SIPRI has enough missile material for 2500 nuclear warheads, but has only made around 190. So doubt this deal will make a difference.
