🌸 ACHIMARIKAMU
A Sacred Japanese Prayer to the Divine

Every morning, when chanting “Achimarikamu” while facing the sun, a luminous halo seems to appear, extending from the sun toward us. ☀️🌈✨

A prayer to release negative energy, bring peace to the heart, and entrust the Earth and all living beings to the divine, asking for a world filled with peace, love, and harmony. 🌏✨

A Renaissance goldsmith looked at an irregular pearl and saw a centaur in it.
The Met dates this pendant to the late 16th or early 17th century and describes its origin as possibly Spanish. The pearl’s uneven shape helped suggest the centaur’s half-human, half-horse body. The jewel also combines enamelled gold with sapphires, rubies and hanging pearls.

What I like here is the decision to work with the material instead of forcing it into a regular shape. The pearl was not a perfect bead, but that oddness gave the maker something to build on. The design grows from what the material already offered.

The pendant also carries different periods within it. The Met notes that its base includes an earlier piece of gold filigree, while the chains and canopy were added later. So the jewel was not made in one clean, finished moment. Its parts accumulated over time.

That makes it feel less like a frozen masterpiece and more like an object with a working life changed, kept and worn across generations.

AI Disclosure: The accompanying image is AI-generated; it is an illustration, not a photograph of the original pendant.

A MASTERPIECE OF RENAISSANCE JEWELLERY

A miniature sculpture of extraordinary imagination.

Created in the late 16th century, the Nereid and Child pendant transforms goldsmithing into pure artistry.

Crafted in gold, white enamel, diamonds, emeralds and rubies, its two figures incorporate baroque pearls, bringing a remarkable sculptural quality to this Renaissance treasure.

More than an ornament, it captures the Renaissance fascination with mythology, nature and the extraordinary possibilities of precious materials.

Possibly Italian or German in origin, this exceptional jewel belongs to the Waddesdon Bequest at the British Museum a testament to the artistry and imagination of European courtly jewellery.

A timeless expression of history, craftsmanship and luxury. #RenaissanceJewellery #HistoricJewellery #HighJewellery #JewelleryHistory #AntiqueJewellery #LuxuryMagazine #ArtHistory #BritishMuseum #WaddesdonBequest #JewelleryCollector #RenaissanceArt #TimelessElegance

SCHMUCKMUSEUM PFORZHEIM: FIVE MILLENNIA OF GLAMOUR

In the heart of Pforzheim, Germany’s historic “City of Gold”, the Schmuckmuseum Pforzheim offers a journey through five thousand years of human fascination with adornment.

Housed in the elegant Reuchlinhaus, an architectural jewel of the 1960s, the museum brings together around 2,000 extraordinary objects from Etruscan and Greek masterpieces to Renaissance treasures, Baroque jewels, Art Nouveau creations and pioneering contemporary jewellery.

Here, jewellery is more than ornament. It is power, identity, ritual and artistry a reflection of the societies that created and cherished it.

Particularly captivating is the museum’s celebrated collection of rings, alongside ethnographic jewellery and contemporary works that reveal how the language of luxury continues to evolve.

Few places make the history of preciousness feel so tangible.

At Schmuckmuseum, gold, gemstones and craftsmanship become a visual chronicle of civilisation itself.

A destination for anyone who believes that true luxury is not merely about rarity but about heritage, craftsmanship and timeless beauty. #Schmuckmuseum #Pforzheim #JewelleryMuseum #JewelryHistory #LuxuryHeritage #HighJewellery #JewelleryLovers #ArtHistory #AntiqueJewellery #ArtNouveau #RenaissanceArt #BaroqueJewellery #EtruscanArt #ContemporaryJewellery #LuxuryMagazine #MuseumLovers #GermanHeritage #CityOfGold
