Fun #FFXIV Heavensturn Fact:
On Jan. 1st, 2013 - the last Year of the Snake - the servers were dark in the space between 1.x and ARR, so we never had a true snakey celebration or an official declaration of Llymlaen ascendant.
This year they both get their overdue festivities.
#FFXIV New Year's Poem for 2025 is up. (Panslation in the Lore Forum as is tradition.)
I think it's giving Solution IX. Alexandria's history is adapting to survive crises. If they look back with nostalgia on the regulators / endless without adapting now, their future is doomed.
@DrAllyLouks Temporary parosmia from COVID. I never lost the sense, but I went to sleep and woke up to the world smelling unfamiliar and INTENSELY bad. "Linen" scents especially were just awful and it was surprisingly difficult to escape them.
@SpaceDrakeCF Writer cooked, imo.
Frumentarium; black masks; Lahabrea doing classical Ascian double-speak; gently reframing the motivations in Gaius going rogue; highlighting parallels between the two characters' downfalls; Lahabrea consciously casting aside all but his comrades and Zodiark.
@rolanberrypie@EmUnArum As cool as I think it is that the most mechanically-focused content in the game finds a way to tell a story without a story ... man am I glad they stopped telling actual stories behind midcore content gates.
I'm not "core" anymore. I'm just "mid".
Right before hanging out with @EmUnArum:
"Oh, man, I better write down all these tiny details just in case."
Right after hanging out with @EmUnArum
"Lmao we should get Mitron this hat."
Due to some IRL, we'll be taking this week off.
Next week we'll also be taking off as we celebrate Thanksgiving here in the United States.
But December 7th?
Patch 7.1 review. With @AnonyMooseXIV#FFXIV
@Vyrerus Yeah; imported from XI and adjusted slightly. It was never confirmed which one was the "first day of the week" with unambiguous certainty but the list of days started with ice so we went with ice.
I'm half convinced that Zoraal Ja could have had a change of heart mid-trial and Wuk Lamat would still have been like, "Well, OK... But I will be honest: I will need some time before I can trust you. Until then, you're welcome to join us for Fajita Firesday."
@CrimsonEsquire So I would imagine it was mostly quiet, simmering desperation and resentment until the rite of succession was almost an insult - as if he didn't have enough to live up to, he had to do this, and against them.
@CrimsonEsquire If I had to guess, I'd guess Zoraal Ja was slowly, steadily crushed by the assumption that, as the one-headed son of blessed siblings who united an empire, he has no identity/legacy but "that dude's lesser son"; hence why his plan was to unite the WORLD even via monstrous means.
