Baby vet student: omg theres only 20 mins left of this placement, it’d be so bad if we did the whole week without getting hurt + something happened now? Ha ha ha!

Thank you to everyone who replied to my little wobble on Sunday- lots of lovely words and I’ll hopefully get round to replying to you all. I’m on some waiting lists & will be taking it easy in the meantime. Most importantly no more feeling ashamed/guilty about it- life is tough!

I’ve not been very active on this account and truthfully its because I’ve not been very ‘active’ in vet school either. I’ve totally dropped the ball, everything is getting on top of me and I’m so behind it feels impossible that I will see this year through 😞1/2

@clwydforest Thank you for the kind words. I have a friend who is taking a year out just to cram in some crazy travel adventures and have fun before he qualifies. A good break does sound tempting and nothing to be ashamed of!

@PupQuest I think thats one of the reasons I’ve struggled - I haven’t found a group of friends because I’m a bit older than most but there is a mature students society I am thinking of joining so hopefully that will help!

And to make matters worse my family put me down all the time. My supposed support network telling me they expected me to fail and that I just don’t try hard enough? I’ve got no confidence left… I don’t think I could even vacc a puppy without convincing myself I’ll kill it !🙃2/2

@Kazza_Budgie @Anonyvet @theRCVS I totally agree with this! There’s a complete lack of structure & consistency. For the first 2/3 years we had a list of ‘suggested’ learning outcomes with no real system. The experience & ability varies so drastically between students in 4th year- bad for confidence+ self esteem
