What's a game that you've beaten but still keep coming back to replay once in a while?
One early candidate for me is Bruce Lee (1984), designed by Ron J. Fortier.
Two of the most recognizable sounds - the footsteps and the sound of collecting lanterns (or whatever they are) - are hardwired into my brain.
Bruce Lee is basically kung-fu Jesus, so I was instantly hooked. I still play it to this day, even after finishing it a gazillion times. To me, it’s a true classic that never ages.
What's yours?
Did you know the iconic seaQuest DSV intro was powered by Commodore Amiga?
Back in 1993, when CGI was still in its infancy and insanely expensive, Amblin Imaging (Steven Spielberg’s effects house) chose a revolutionary low-cost solution: a render farm of Commodore Amiga 2000 computers running NewTek LightWave 3D and the Video Toaster.
All those stunning external shots of the massive seaQuest submarine gliding through the ocean depths? Rendered on Amigas. The show only used about 1.5 minutes of CGI per episode, but it looked groundbreaking for television at the time. They networked dozens of Amigas together to handle the complex underwater visuals — a setup that helped make high-quality 3D effects accessible beyond big Hollywood budgets.
This was the same Amiga + LightWave combo that famously powered early seasons of Babylon 5 and other 90s sci-fi hits. The Video Toaster even won an Emmy for Technical Achievement in 1993!
The future of TV VFX was built on a machine many still call the greatest home computer ever made. Commodore Amiga — changing the game from your desktop. 🖥️✨ONLY AMIGA MAKES IT POSSIBLE!
Airborne Ranger is BACK!?
The legendary 1987 Commodore 64 classic that dropped you behind enemy lines as a one-man Army Ranger is getting the modern rebirth it deserves.
Just watched the new Airborne Ranger: FightOut trailer and it looks intense — solo campaign + up to 4-player co-op, tactical missions, vehicles, destructible environments, and that same gritty special ops feel, now with today's graphics and gameplay.
MicroProse doing what they do best. Old-school fans, this one's for us!
Wishlist it here https://t.co/CgMkwuvaxH
Who else remembers parachuting in on the C64 and scrambling to complete the mission with whatever you could scavenge? Are you going to play this newbie or stick with the OG?
Spotted somewhere new!

Who remembers being surprised to see "Directory Art" after you typed:
LOAD "$", 8
LIST
Instead of a boring list of filenames and block counts, the entire directory screen transformed into a beautiful piece of directory art (dir art / d/art). The surprise hit hard the first time you saw it on a cracked game disk; I was like, "What just happened?!"
The drive's "directory" isn't a normal file — when you ask for "$" (the special filename meaning "show directory"), the drive generates a fake BASIC program on the fly.
The first two bytes are the load address (like any PRG file), then it spits out tokenized BASIC lines: line numbers (those 18, 40, etc.), the block counts as "PRINT" statements, filenames in quotes, file types like PRG or DEL, and finally "107 BLOCKS FREE." and "READY." as the last "lines."
Normally this just looks like a messy program listing when you LIST it.
But clever sceners realized: "Hey, we can overwrite those 'lines' with PETSCII block characters (like the diamond borders, checker patterns, hearts, etc.) while keeping the structure intact so the drive still thinks it's a valid directory."
They used deleted files (type DEL) or carefully placed dummy entries to draw in the 16-column filename area, turning the directory into ASCII/PETSCII art.
When this popped up on your C64, it was amazing. Who remembers seeing directory art on their Commodore 64?
🎶Blue Monday by New Order on the Commodore 64 👍Turn it up! It will transport you back to 1983!
Just discovered this absolute gem on CSDb: "Blue Monday [2025]" – a mind-blowing C64 chiptune cover of New Order's classic!
Nordischsound (of Hokuto Force, PET SCIIENTISTS, and more) poured his SID mastery into this, hitting us 40 years late but right on time! That throbbing bass, killer drums, and synths? MAGIC!!!!
The more you listen the better it gets 10/10 from me. Download from CSDB and try it on your C64, TheC64 or Commodore 64 Ultimate today.
I will develop a fixed version and publish it for free. Until that's done, please do NOT operate any WarpSpeed cartridge in a C64/C128, no matter if original or replica.
Please RT and tell your friends on forums/discord.
After years of building, it’s finally happening 🤯
