I gradually preserve things I care about in my spare time whether it be VHS tapes, Blu-Rays, audio CDs, or even online videos to try to combat censorship.
October 17, 2026 Update:
Hello. I am still working on my color correction restoration project for Song of the South (1946).
However, I need to fully transparent and admit that as someone who has never done color correction for an entire movie before, the process is a bit more complicated than I thought it was going to be.
To avoid stressing myself too much, I am not going to give myself a deadline on November 12 anymore in time for the movie's 80th birthday, but instead, the project will be ready whenever I'm happy with it first and foremost. Because I need to focus on if it looks good to me instead of worrying about social media clout.
I'm already re-tweaking quite a few of the shots in the first animated sequence to try to make them look better than ever before.
I have no idea how long it will take me to finish this, but I hope I'll be able to make the movie look the best that I can. Have a wonderful day, everyone. :)
@ember_paradox@Tectone Unfortunately, there will always be bad actors that will act maliciously beyond your control, but good for you for calling out the harassment as best you can. ❤️
It's okay. It's okay to have opinions that may be considered unpopular as long as they don't come from an evil place of mind.
Speaking for myself, it can be easy to feel insecure about having a viewpoint that is different from others. I don't know if that feeling will ever completely go away.
Now, if you happen to share a viewpoint, and you realize later on you were wrong about said viewpoint as you learn more information about it, and admitted it, I appreciate that sort of thing because it shows that you're a human being that wants to improve. I'm not big into creators who think they're right 100% of the time and can never be wrong about anything, as they can develop a massive ego.
Speaking of that, as someone who enjoys watching Ember, I still support him. Because he admitted to his faults about not being transparent about being a dude to other people he collaborated with and accepted the potential consequences of his actions. He also heavily discourages harassment towards anyone else, even people who may have slighted him. I find that a really admirable character trait.
I know that there are certain individuals I follow who will not give him a chance because he lied about his identity and fear that he may have lied about more things beyond that, or because of content of some book he wrote. They're entitled to those opinions. There's no point in me trying to change their minds because honestly, it's not worth it.
But I'm standing my ground and I'm grateful I own a plushie of his model. This is probably all bullshit rambling but thank you for coming to my TED talk.
I think it's best for me to pick and choose my battles carefully.
There's constructive criticism to be had on not revealing his gender in private DMs with other creators if that is in fact true.
But, behind the avatar of a VTuber is a real human being with real opinions and feelings. So if Ember did one bad mistake, that doesn't automatically discount the other good things this person did in my opinion.
You are completely free to not watch Ember's stuff if the idea of a man using a voice changer in front of a female avatar makes you uncomfortable. But I want to give him support. There's already enough bad things in the world as it is, so a little kindness to someone I admire can go a long way. I still stand by my words and am not backing down.
@celestiumart I completely respect and understand feeling broken about being deceived. I'm a little weirded out myself that there's a dude behind Ember.
But even if Ember made a mistake in regard to that, I personally still have this content creator's back. ❤️
