@JasperSummons DBZ ep.171 doesn’t specify a date either, but it’s in the run-up to the Cell Games, and correlating it with the Daizenshuu 7 timeline means it should be May 18th. But again, they only celebrate Gohan’s birthday then because he aged a year in the time chamber
@JasperSummons The Daizenshuu 7 timeline says Gohan is born “sometime in May” in Age 757, but no official source gives him a specific birthday. DBZ ep.171 shows Gohan’s birthday party, but they celebrate it because he aged a year in the time chamber, rather than because it’s…
At any rate, the fact that this scene’s dialogue got changed so much while others are taken as-is from the movie says something about…something, I’m sure. Thanks to @Terez27 for the DBS:SH movie screenshots
Even in the revised version, Goku’s attitude towards meditation in SH still seems odd compared to, for instance, the Cell arc, where he’s the one who sits around thinking (causing Gohan to wonder what his deal is) until he suddenly figures out how to sur…
…But again the emphasis is changed from this being Jiren’s specific trick, to instead being something all their recent foes could do (…even Broly? He doesn’t exactly strike me as “relaxed”)
In the movie, Vegeta talks about how Jiren wasn’t actually much stronger than them, but used his power more efficiently. In the manga, Vegeta talks more generally about how he and Goku are physically on par with all their recent foes, but need to use the…
The list of recent strong people is also said by Goku in the movie, but is given to Vegeta in the manga. Besides Jiren and Broly, Vegeta adds DBS manga-only opponents Moro and Gas, plus Freeza (listed after Gas, as a nod to the end of the Granolah arc).
(Meanwhile, the animanga version of the movie just kept the same dialogue as the film. Even in Toyotaro’s adaptation, most of the film’s dialogue is left largely as-is outside of added scenes, so the changes to this scene are notable)
As mentioned when the roughs came out last week, DBS ch.93 changes Goku and Vegeta’s chat about meditation. In the DBS: Super Hero movie, Goku didn’t even think meditation could be training, while in the manga, he’s mostly surprised to see Vegeta doing i…
@KaiwaiDB@MrKaytos@derekpadula I haven’t collected V-Jump consistently over the years, and I’ve sold off the old issues I had, so I’m not sure which was my first. But I’ll probably keep up now that there’s a digital edition, which I guess makes this on…
@KALS_Kingdom Nope, here he just think’s it’s weird that Vegeta is training that way (I guess because he doesn’t think it’s Vegeta’s style). There’s no longer a line where he denies the very idea that meditation could be a form of training
I’m also guessing the chapter title is パン誘拐戦/“The Plan to Kidnap Pan”, although the blurry handwriting is a real nuisance. That’s the title used for this part in the animanga too, and it seems to fit.
…rather than just Jiren and Broly (plus Freeza too, implicitly due to his new Black power-up from the Granolah arc). Goku’s dialogue is also changed so that he doesn’t laugh at the very idea that meditating could be training. Now he’s more surprised to see Vegeta doing it.
And that’s where it ends. But presumably this will lead into Vegeta’s explanation of Jiren’s efficient power usage (refuting Goku’s idea that body strength is the key factor). Notably, this section differs from the DBS: Super Hero movie in mentioning Moro and Gas…
Vegeta says how in the past few years he’s been surpassed by Jiren, Broly, Moro, Gas, and then Freeza. What’s the difference between them and him? Goku thinks it must be that that Vegeta didn’t make his body strong enough.
