Temporary signals in China are super cheap and seem to work. We probably overbuild these in the US. Two stacked trimodal, green yellow and red in the same light, indications for thru and left turns.
Support for the US is collapsing in the Middle East creating decreased security for Americans as a whole. Enabling war crimes is terrible foreign policy. The US stance must be immediate aid and ceasefire.
Hot Take, China is a lot more livable for Urbanists than the US. Society is much more accessible for the young and old, services are generally within 15 minutes, transit is plentiful, parking costs money, and third places are where people congregate.
@PetruSofio I'll have to ask but I haven't seen it restricted yet, I'm sure it is places. People often make turns on red over bike lanes but they're so wide that it prevents major conflicts. Also cross traffic will yield to people who get stuck in the intersection when making a turn.
Combined bike/left arrow indication driven by the left turn phase. Left turns are always served simultaneously to prevent a conflict. The intersection itself is a SPUI. Shanghai.
@PetruSofio Also there are speed cameras everywhere and no tolerance for DUI, you can't drive after any drinking. Traffic is just much better regulated from dangerous behavior.
@PetruSofio I think this is because the traffic mix is much more chaotic with many different kinds of vehicles and you have to constantly pay attention as you drive.
