Assam: Guwahati’s Royal Global University has imposed a ₹5,000 fine on 2,243 students for remaining absent on the first day after summer break.
On July 20, Guwahati including the roads leading to RGU, was severely flooded with many stranded across the city.
Hence, 2,243 students could not attend classes.
Students have been barred from attending and from online registration despite previous payments only because they haven’t paid the ₹5,000 fine.
Despite such a grim situation in the city, wherein a single rain shower keeps people from leaving their homes out of fear, RGU imposing such fines on students is nothing short of extortion.
RGU recently bought a team in the Assam Premier League representing Guwahati. If they are not aware of how concerning situations become after rain in Guwahati, they had better withdraw from the ownership.
This is not short of extortion.
No students should face such punishment in times of disaster like the floods.
Respected @himantabiswa, @ranojpeguassam - humbly requesting you to look at how the Private Institution has been extorting students amid disasters.
. @BJP4India youth leader Abhilash Dutta has been accused of brutally assaulting a young man from Silchar following a minor traffic dispute in Guwahati.
The incident reportedly occurred after the victim overtook Abhilash Dutta's vehicle on a public road.
The victim, who has lodged a formal FIR at the Latasil Police Station (Case No. 45/26), alleged that Dutta issued death threats to prevent him from seeking legal recourse.
Authorities have identified three individuals involved in the alleged assault, Abhilash Dutta, a resident of the Red Cross area in Chandmari, Apurba Sinha from Noonmati, and Mirin Talukdar from Chandmari.

Mrs @SupriyaShrinate Your selective amnesia on fuel pricing is embarrassing, especially for #Piddi's and the Leftist liberandus.
The March 27, 2026, excise cut (petrol ₹13→₹3, diesel ₹10→₹0) is not an “election ploy” — it’s a calculated move to protect 140 crore Indians from global crude shocks amid West Asia tensions. Despite rising international prices, retail fuel rates remain stable.
OMCs like Indian Oil Corporation, HPCL, BPCL are government-owned — their losses don’t vanish, they come back to taxpayers. This step absorbs the shock transparently instead of passing it directly to citizens.
Now the reality you conveniently ignore:
UPA hid fuel costs through ~₹1.34 lakh crore oil bonds — later ballooning to ₹3.23 lakh crore with interest. That burden was shifted to future taxpayers and eventually repaid under the Modi govt.
NDA, on the other hand, collected ₹38.89 lakh crore (2014–Dec 2024) through fuel duties — yes, increased when crude was low — but used for visible development: highways, Ujjwala, Ayushman Bharat, PMAY & DBT. Not hidden liabilities.
In 2014, UPA excise was lower (Petrol ₹9.48, Diesel ₹3.56), yet fuel prices still rose sharply. So lower taxes didn’t protect people then, but smart management is protecting them now.
Also, UPA left ~$6.5B (₹43,000 crore) unpaid to Iran due to sanctions. The Modi govt cleared it after 2016 — another legacy burden fixed.
#Congress formula: Hidden debts, artificial subsidies, future pain.
NDA formula: Transparent handling, price stability in global storms, nation-building from revenues.
Supriya ji, facts matter. Prices are stable today despite global volatility.
Track record > rhetoric.
Pretty Sure this Video will reach Milords!
They should listen to Anand Rangnathan and listen with an Open Mind!
This is what a Common Man thinks of the judiciary right now!
History will remember even while contributing taxes, Rich Indians used to be awake till midnight to pay them, as tax portal was not working!
And government punished them by not extending advance tax due dates, levying interest!!
Then you ask why HNIs like to settle abroad.
@CAclubindia I urge all CAs&tax consultants not to beg for an extension at the cost of self respect. Lazy and indisciplined clients won’t pay you more . Govt is mocking us and so as all others. An extension if given will be by @IncomeTaxIndia as per their will and not by our representation
A Lucknow Court has sentenced an advocate Permanand Gupta to life imprisonment for orchestrating false SC/ST Act and rape cases.
He and his wife had a property dispute with some individuals. To counter this, they conspired with Pooja Rawat, a woman from the SC/ST community, to file multiple false complaints, including rape and charges under the SC/ST Act, against their adversaries in the property dispute.
By awarding life imprisonment, the court has set an example that misuse of the SC/ST Act and fake rape charges will not go unchecked. The sad reality is that no one even knows how many innocents are already behind bars due to the misuse of laws.
People with zero knowledge about the automotive domain can only spew this crap.
Yeah, sure…
Tata Motors owns Jaguar Land Rover, builds 5-star NCAP-rated cars, launches award-winning EVs… but somehow “below global standards.” 😂
Mahindra leads Formula E, pioneers EV tech, and builds SUVs like XUV700 & Scorpio-N that dominate markets globally… but apparently has “hollow technology.” 🤦♂️
And yes, their Impact Design Language wins global awards… but sure, they “copy designs.” 🙄
Before tweeting nonsense, maybe your home is a better place than Twitter. 😉
Enough is enough.
The arrogance of the @FinMinIndia has to end.
There must be an end to this silence.
