It was interesting to chat to Amdy Burnham when I bumped into him at the airport on Tuesday. Asking him what he thought about his party snatching the winter fuel allowance from old age pensioners he said he didn’t agree with it. I bet if each person individually, holding a leading position in the Labour Party was asked the same question they would answer the same way. They can’t defend it because it’s indefensible. They know full well pensioners will die because of it, they know how miserable and how they will suffer trying to get through the winter in cold damp homes for lack of heating. Why don’t they oppose it forcefully, have mass resignations like they did against Corbyn - get rid of Starmer and defend old people who’ve worked all their lives until they can work no more. Why don’t they speak out publicly and campaign for a U turn ?It’s too bloody easy to say you don’t agree with it
