Jag växte upp i ett kulturellt progressivt hushåll där vi gick i första maj som familjetradition. Jag är konservativ, och värnar om svenska värderingar och traditioner; mina barn ska också vara progressiva och gå i första maj
Converting to catholicism because it's "trad" isn't very conservative—Why rebel against the traditions and values of your parents? Honour thy father and thy mother!
@lymanstoneky I read somewhere that many local Congolese polities taxed their populace so oppressively that it stunted the urbanisation of the region considerably as the locals would avoid the cities, which were the centres of power. It was rather miserable even before the Belgians arrived.
In the US, accents that use y'all like AAVE, don't have the highest status, but they are the most prominent in US media
Thus, confusingly, Europeans don't learn the high status English Americans think they would've
*All* accents are *equally* foreign to a language learner!
The most disastrous consequence of American globalism was Europeans saying “y’all” and “ain’t”. Its like seeing a dog hold a spoon. Very unusual and very scary.
