It will get undermined and forgotten if Newcastle don't replicate today's energy vs. Liverpool again this season. The narrative for the game lent itself to feed Newcastles aggression and energy but still lost. Leeds definitely win next week.
@RorySmith awsome point on footballdaily RE PSR "Villa and Brighton should be lorded" the end goal should be that they stand a chance at winning the league. If levelling the playing field does not allow for knocking down hills they should at least not be allowed to grow freely.
@barneyronay The impulse to win the ball should not override the decision to put the safety of your opponent at risk. Standing tackles and tracking back are more difficult and energy consuming. My lesson to kids will always be that lunges are just a lazy first choice/impulse.
@barneyronay My thoughts are mixed on this one. I have played the game and have seen those lunges many times. Once it caught a teammates standing leg and that was far more inconvenient than a red. As a youth coach I am trying my upmost to coach that decision out of kids as young as possible.
@Davolaar This is the best part of being a Man City fan. They get front row seats to the best version of #Klopp's #LFC, on and off the field more consistently than any other team.
Like high defending & even zonal marking, an effective offside trap is a skill not the gamble. I genuinely feel #Klopp & #LFC don't get enough credit for how well they do it.
I don't understand why I have heard some say that Klop will struggle to man manage our front line with so many options. Other managers have had those embarrassment of riches for multiple seasons, keep adding and rarely is that deemed as a negative. I don't get it. #LFC
I can't help but feel that this Saturdays battle with Lukaku is not only one Van Dijk relishes but genuinely feels like it gives him a better chance to showcase his abilities more than most games. He is the new standard for the elite center back. #LFC
@StanCollymore I think detailed communication in football is a skill that requires as many tools as possible. Mostly between coach and player. Most successful teams are the clearest extension of a good coaches intention. That's mainly why players excel in one environment and fail in another.
@StanCollymore I for one am a fan of modern language. It is a sign of a maturing society. And football should be no different IMO. It tries to micro analyze the finer nuances of the game and players. Any language it can be overused and abused but broad terms leave room for misinterpretation
