🇺🇸A Fort Worth police officer was caught on video telling a street preacher at a Pride festival that he could be ticketed for “offensive speech,” saying, “If someone is offended by your talking, then we have a problem.”

The preacher, a retired federal law enforcement officer, pushed back and called it a First Amendment violation.

The exchange quickly went viral, and Fort Worth police later admitted the officer made inaccurate statements and clarified that the ticket was actually for a noise ordinance violation involving a bullhorn, not the content of the speech.

The department said it would provide First Amendment refresher training.
