New Jersey saw another double-digit decrease last year in opioid overdose deaths. If Asw Marisa Sweeney has her way, our state will witness MORE overdose deaths. Assembly bill A4853, which Sweeney is a PRIMARY SPONSOR of, will make it easier to access schedule II narcotics, such as opioids. Bad policy like this will mean more prescription abuse and overdose deaths. SAD.

FATHER'S DAY was first celebrated in the United States in 1908 after the worst mining disaster in American History. A massive explosion collapsed two mines in West Virginia, instantly killing hundreds of fathers, grandfathers, and sons.

A Father's Day Mass was celebrated shortly thereafter to commemorate the lives of these men, who in this tragedy, paid the ultimate SACRIFICE, while doing the job they had to do to provide for their families.

Sacrifice is what FATHERHOOD is about, as our fathers give so much so that their sons and daughters can have a fair shot at the AMERICAN DREAM.

Today, we CELEBRATE our fathers for their sacrifices, and for the lessons they teach us.
