BREAKING: Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez formally launches her bid to become the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee — a position that will give her great power to fight the Trump regime.

This is a political earthquake...

"This is not a position I seek lightly," AOC wrote in a letter to her colleagues. "The responsibility of leading Democrats on the House Oversight Committee during Donald Trump’s second term in the White House is a profound and consequential one."

"Now, more than ever, we must focus on the Committee’s strong history of both holding administrations accountable and taking on the economic precarity and inequality that is challenging the American way of life," she added.

Ocasio-Cortez has promised to cooperate with Republicans on issues like reforming pharmacy benefit managers but said that she'll give them "hell" on issues they disagree on.

Democratic Congressman Gerry Connolly is also after the powerful position, a contest made possible by Congressman Jamie Raskin's stepping down to take the top spot on the Judiciary Committee.
