@boltapp BOLT, YOU CANNOT KEEP PUNISHING DRIVERS FOR REAL-LIFE DECISIONS!
How do you suspend a driver for weeks just because they cancelled a trip at the pickup point?
Let’s be honest… no driver drives to a pickup point just to cancel for fun.
There is ALWAYS a reason.
In today’s paper, the President ruto says the solution to Thika Road congestion is another expressway.
My people, this is where this govt fails the logic test once again.
Nairobi doesn’t suffer from a shortage of roads, it suffers from the absence of a serious mass commuter rail system.
Expressways assume everyone can afford tolls and own cars. Rail systems move more people, cheaper, faster, and with less strain on public finances.
Cities that invest in commuter rail move more people per hour at a fraction of the long-term cost of expressways.
When governments repeatedly choose expensive road projects over mass transit, it’s fair to ask who exactly these decisions are designed for.
And definitely it's them & not you. It's about them using it & getting kickbacks too. It's a sad situation
Come 2027, Kenyans must demand leaders who plan cities for people, not just for profit.
Wewe Kijana ;
Kenya’s tax burden is among the highest in Africa relative to income levels.
Tax Rates: Kenya's VAT is 16%, corporate tax is 30%, and personal income tax is capped at 30%, higher than Tunisia (15% corporate tax) and Botswana (25% income tax and 22% corporate tax).
Hidden Taxes: Kenya’s taxation extends beyond direct taxes, with excessive excise duties, levies on fuel, and transactional taxes like the Digital Services Tax. These disproportionately affect low-income earners and inflate the overall tax burden.
Mismanagement of Taxes: Unlike Tunisia or Botswana, where taxes are reinvested into education, healthcare, and infrastructure, Kenya’s revenue is often siphoned off through corruption and wastage. It's not the tax rate that's the problem but the gross mismanagement of collected funds.
GDP and Tax Revenue: Kenya collects taxes amounting to nearly 18% of its GDP, while countries like Ethiopia collect around 10-12%. This clearly debunks the idea that these countries tax more heavily.
