There are no people on this earth more optimistic than Kenyans. We have been taxed on our income, our food, our cooking oil, and our internet. We could not travel to Ushago this Easter because the fare made decisions for us. The unga price changed between Good Friday and this morning. The water was interrupted. The roads have craters with seniority. And yet tonight, at 1:28 am on the Saturday between death and resurrection, a Kenyan is still awake. Not worrying. Not sleeping. Just awake with the quiet stubbornness of a people who have refused to be defeated by anything, including their own bedtime. Later today, a Kenyan will wake up, put on their best clothes, and head to Kasarani to watch Majembe and Mbavu settle something that this economy could not. We could not afford Easter. We found a way to afford Kasarani. This is not irresponsible. This is faith. Jesus rested on this day. Kenyans do not rest. We bought tickets. We are also still awake at 1:28 am, discussing things that cannot wait until morning. The Good Wife is asleep. She is the only sensible person in this house. Possibly in this country.#IpoSiku
