As a sportsperson, you learn to accept losses more often than victories — that is part of the journey. But what hurts even more is winning and still not receiving what you rightfully earned.
I won the Odisha Open in January 2026. The organizers assured me that the prize money would be paid within a month. However, when I followed up later, they stopped responding.
Since the tournament was affiliated with the All India Chess Federation, I also reached out to the federation’s president and secretary, hoping the matter would be resolved fairly. Unfortunately, there has been no response from them either.
If this can happen to someone honoured with the Arjuna Award, one can only imagine the struggles faced by players at the grassroots level of chess in India.
I kindly request the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports to look into this matter and help ensure that players receive their rightful prize money with transparency and accountability.
This is not just about one unpaid prize. It is about protecting the dignity and trust of every chess player in India.

US and Iran announce that strait of hormuz will reopen🙌
Everything is temporary but @realDonaldTrump trump announcing news on Friday evening is permanent😅
@delhichess Congrats to the winners Anustoop Biswas and @AnujShrivatri on winning the Rapid and Blitz section. Was a fun-filled 2 days and memories to cherish.
Crazy fact about organizing a chess tournament in India.
Example: ₹2 lakh prize fund event with 300 participants.
• AICF fixed fee: ₹25,000 (Avg 20-35k)
• 10% prize fund fee: ₹20,000
• ₹100 per player after 150 players (300 entries → ₹15,000)
• State association fee (~2%): ₹5,000
Total extra fees: ₹65,000.
That is 30%+ in federation fees on a ₹2 lakh event.
@Dixit__Nikhil Yeah, it's relatable. Maybe that's because draw doesn't hurt too much in case of high rated. And we don't think too much about losing before the game, resulting in enterprising play.
The silence is deafening
As the days pass with little to no actions, I become more concerned that FIDE will be successful in it's attempt to sweep Danya's passing (and it's cause) under the rug. So far FIDE has made one statement: a call for an internal investigation. The CEO of FIDE has a message accusing Daniel's friends for his death still posted. Kramnik continues to post threats, denials, and accusations.
The silence from far too many of Danya's peers is deafening. I have attempted to reach out to multiple other players to discuss tangible ways to put pressure on FIDE moving forward and the response, in every single case, has been effectively the same "it's pointless unless Magnus joins, FIDE is too strong".
That isn't good enough. We, as a community, MUST do better to honor Danya and to prevent further tragedies. What Kramnik was allowed to do, directly under FIDE's supervision, must have repercussions. A 3rd party investigation must take place. Changes must be made for the future safety of all chess players.
We need players boycotting FIDE events until this investigation takes place and real changes are made. We need sponsors to make it clear they do not want to be associated with an organization that allows systematic failures related to harassment and abuse.
My platform is small and there is only so much I can do, if you see this tag/reach out to GM's, sponsors of upcoming tournaments, and related parties. Let your voice be heard. Let the players know that you will support them standing up to FIDE. We can not let them continue to move forward as if nothing happened.
From what I can see, @VBkramnik majorly targets individuals which are popular online faces - Hikaru, Naroditsky, Jose Martinez, Nihal. This steams from the fact that Kramnik was a failed streamer, and had resentment towards players thriving online, where he failed miserably (2/2)
It is devastating to lose Danya so young at 29. We can only imagine the storms he faced these past months. He shared his chess wisdom early, through books and streams. Rest in peace, Danya (1/2)
So heartbreaking💔
Isn't this clip from Danya's last stream more than good enough to understand how much his mental health was affected by the baseless accusations by Kramnik?
@FIDE_chess Ethics Commission must step up and prevent Kramnik from playing with mental health of others
Middleware is known to almost everyone who knows Nodejs.
But what exactly it is?
Middleware holds the request, response object and essentially, it is nothing more than a function with three parameters: request, response, and next.
