I am deeply disturbed and shocked by the mismanagement witnessed today at Salt Lake Stadium. I was on my way to the stadium to attend the event along with thousands of sports lovers and fans who had gathered to catch a glimpse of their favourite footballer, Lionel Messi.
I sincerely apologise to Lionel Messi, as well as to all sports lovers and his fans, for the unfortunate incident.
I am constituting an enquiry committee under the chairmanship of Justice (Retd.) Ashim Kumar Ray, with the Chief Secretary and the Additional Chief Secretary, Home and Hill Affairs Department, as members. The committee will conduct a detailed enquiry into the incident, fix responsibility, and recommend measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.
Once again, I extend my heartfelt apologies to all sports lovers.
On the 24th anniversary of the 2001 Parliament attack, India remembers the bravery of CRPF trooper Kamlesh Kumari, the only woman to posthumously receive the Ashok Chakra for her heroic actions that day.
On December 13, 2001, terrorists stormed the Indian Parliament. Kamlesh was stationed at Iron Gate Number 1, armed only with a walkie-talkie and incredible courage. When the attackers breached Gate Number 11 โ meant for the Vice President โ Kamlesh acted immediately.
She alerted her team over the radio, pursued the intruders, and risked her life to stop further devastation. Her quick response helped the CRPF contain the attack and neutralise the terrorists. Tragically, she was shot while protecting the heart of Indian democracy.
In 2002, Kamlesh Kumari was awarded the Ashok Chakra, Indiaโs highest peacetime gallantry award, for her unmatched courage and sacrifice.
Letโs honour her bravery and remember the heroes who protect our nation.

How far can one man go for his country?
Major Mohit Sharma went beyond limits โ giving up his identity, entering Hizbul as Iftikhar Bhatt, and living among enemies for months to protect India.
Shot in combat, he still eliminated four terrorists before laying down his life. His Ashoka Chakra tells only a fraction of his extraordinary courage.

The gallant #IndianBrave killed 5 of the enemy and fought till his last in defence of Uri, J&K, #OnThisDay 12 December in 1947 during the #IndoPakWar 1947-48
The citation:
On 12 December 1947, 1 Sikh was out on a fighting patrol at Uri against the tribesmen in Kashmir State. The enemy, who was occupying previously prepared bunker position, opened fire on the leading company of the battalion killing 10 men on the spot and wounding another 15.
These 15 wounded soldiers were lying within 10 yards of the enemy position. The enemy was attempting, under very heavy covering fire, to pull in these casualties and capture their arms and was at the same time carrying out an encircling movement round this position.
Counter-attacks by the company on these bunkers had failed, resulting in even heavier casualties. Another company was then ordered to attack from the left flank.
Jemadar Nand Singh, was commanding one of its forward platoons.
His platoon went into attack like a band of Trojans with himself to the fore. The fire was intense and his men were falling left and right of him. Yet he pressed on. His men followed him shouting cries of โSat Sri Akalโ and closed in on the enemy.
He carried on. A fierce hand-to-hand fighting ensued. Jemadar Singh was the first to draw blood with his bayonet. Although wounded, he killed five of the enemy. By this fine example, his men were inspired to a frenzy and fought like fiends, bayoneting right and left. The enemy broke and fled, but very few of them could escape.
The #IndianBrave had captured his objective, but as he stood there on top of the bunker, a burst of enemy LMG hit him in the chest and he fell on the spot. However, his mission had been completed.
The valour, leadership and selfless devotion to duty displayed by this son of India in this little action was something that cannot be described, much less matched. He was VC (WWII) and had more than lived up to the reputation of one.๐ต๏ธ

Indiaโs youngest Param Vir Chakra awardee, Arun Khetarpal, was only 21 when he commanded a lone Centurion tank after his squadron was hit. He destroyed multiple enemy tanks before being fatally wounded. This song captures that spirit.
One year ago, the official handle of Uttarakhand Tourism shared this incredible video. What a video, and what a reflection of the deep cultural soul of our mountains.
This footage comes from the vibrant Rung community of Chaudas Valley in Dharchula, Pithoragarh. Their heritage, traditional attire, and age-old customs reveal a Himalayan identity that has been preserved with remarkable devotion.
In every frame, the mountains speak of culture, memory and continuity. The Rung Tribe reminds us that the Himalayas are not only landscapes but living traditions carried forward with dignity and pride.
