Boiled eggs are probably the easiest option to provide. They come with almost zero logistical challenges, require no mixing with the existing meal, and can be served completely separately to children who want them, while vegetarian alternatives can continue for those who prefer veg food.

More importantly, midday meal beneficiaries are largely children from families that often cannot afford a nutrient-rich diet. India is already facing a serious protein deficiency problem, and even PM Modi has publicly raised concerns around nutrition. In that context, the government has a clear responsibility to provide children with affordable, accessible sources of protein.

Anyone arguing otherwise is simply avoiding the real issue and trying hard to bury their heads deep inside the government's backyard.

Deepu Pandit committed a heinous act against an 11-year-old girl, when she went to the police to file a complaint, no FIR was registered and she was turned away.

Ruchika Girhotra, a 14-year-old talented tennis player, had gone for practice with her friend Aradhana when SPS Rathore, an IPS officer and President of the Haryana Tennis Association, called both girls to his room. He sent Aradhana outside on the pretext of calling the coach, then grabbed Ruchika, pulled her towards him and molested her. When Ruchika screamed, Aradhana returned and witnessed the incident. Rathore threatened both girls with dire consequences if they spoke out. Despite the threats, Ruchika and her family bravely filed a police complaint, but instead of action, false theft cases were filed against her brother, who was brutally tortured and paraded naked in front of their house. Police in plain clothes repeatedly threatened the family, Ruchika was expelled from school and banned from tennis, leading her into severe depression. Eventually, she took her own life. The Congress and Chautala governments of that time not only failed to act against Rathore but promoted him to Director General of Police. The family fought a long legal battle and finally got him convicted in 2008. Those were the so-called democratic governments — and now people talk about dictatorship.

What most "deshbhakts" here don't understand is that govt school is the root of all nation-building activity.

That's where the kids, whose parents may be uneducated & poor, are supposed to get nutrition and education on par with kids from well-to-do families. That's where you are supposed to instill moral values, civic sense and patriotism into the kids.

India will NEVER develop unless the situation of govt schools is addressed. If you fix it today, there is a chance that India improves 20 years from now.

Escaping govt schools and going to private with high fees, escaping public spaces and limiting yourself to gated societies, etc means you are actually blackpilled about India and Indians.
