Thayaparam is a friend and a good writer. His lengthy piece in Mkini is brilliant. He asks how I can carry water for Pas? He quoted many things I had said about Pas many years ago that were critical of theocratic or ulamaks' leadership.
All of them are correct. For many years, I believed Pas would not be suitable to govern the country because they were talking of the traditional concept of an Islamic state. Pas would not have been suitable for the Malays, either, if they had pursued that model.
Today, Pas idea of an Islamic state has evolved; one that addresses inequality, wealth redistribution, and unjust laws.
References to Hadi Awang's recent speeches would point to that trajectory
Pas is no longer that party of the 90s. It has now changed to become a democratic party seeking the mandate of the people of all races to govern the country
Pas is no longer a party of clerics. It has many members who are ordinary Malays. Many of them are highly educated, technocrats, and professionals in various fields. Pas suffers from the image of the past, but that can be sorted out
Pas did not ask me to disavow my views about them before accepting me. They did not ask for a confession of my errors. They accepted me for who I am, and I accepted them for what they are today
To be useful to Pas, I need to devote my efforts to alleviating poverty, bringing justice to the people, and, where possible, modernising the country's administration. Pas is the platform most suitable for my plans
I do not have to change the Party's governing philosophy, be in the Syura Council, or undertake a wholesale change in the President's views. There is enough space in Pas for me to do what I can, and within my means, to help the country
It was a long drive to Muar because of the traffic, but it was worth it. I was able to witness the presentation of Watikah to Pas candidates contesting the PRN Johor
I met Dr Samsuri, the quiet Chairman of PN. This is the person maligned by Muhiyudin's camp nonstop for many things, including having no Wow factor
The oeople of the country have had enough of leaders with charisma, and wow factor, whatever that is
Regardless of the survey of the Merdeka Centre, I believe Dr Samsuri will successfully lead PN to victory in the next GE
Because he is genuine, honest, empathetic, and will not be embroiled in massive corruption and abuse of power of the kind we have seen repeatedly over the years.
What kind of leader do we want? If Merdeka Centre had asked the question, maybe the result would be different
Muhiyuddin boys should wait to see how many seats Bersatu can win in Johor before mocking Pas leaders like Samsuri
It's nice of Tuanku Sultan Selangor to remember Najib for his LRT contribution. The person some called worse than Attila the Han did many good things, like ECRL for the people in the east. Many more if we care to remember
Thank you, Tuanku
Did I read correctly? Does the PM say that federal allocations to states exceed the revenue received from that state and are therefore fair? Is that relevant, Sir? Statutory and constitutional principles are involved in a Federation when allocations are made to the states. Lengthy to explain. But the fairness or otherwise of the allocations does not depend solely on whether the federal allocations exceed revenue received from that state
A better explanation is necessary
Nga Kor Ming (DAP) feels that the Umno-PAS collaboration is about the effort to pardon Najib. He said he would resign, and so would DAP from the government
In reply, Tok Mat Umno no 2 said the Johor election collaboration had nothing to do with the pardon
A missed opportunity for Tok Mat to be candid
Najib was sentenced to 12 years in SRC and 15 in IMDB. So, without the half-pardon (which was not carried out), Najib would have had to serve 27 years. For a man of over 70, that's a life imprisonment
I am happy if PAS and Umno collaborate and secure a pardon for Najib. A life sentence for him is cruel. As Malays, we always have our hearts open for forgiveness
This country's values and sense of justice cant be dictated by red lines drawn by DAP. Sure, the court has ruled Najib is a disgrace to the nation, but is the court always right about what's just? Is it always right in determining justice? How could they send Socrates to his death if it were so? How could they have held in Dred Scott vs Sandford that blacks were property and not persons under the US Constitution?
Our religion teaches us to be humble ; and to forgive. Unlike those self-righteous groups who never did anything wrong and who like to draw red lines, we accept the frailties and fallibility of our leaders. There has to be compassion for those who served the people well
The debate will go on over whether Najib deserves a pardon, but as Muslims, we must not be ashamed to hold to our belief. We must work together to pardon him. Tok Guru Hadi, Umno and Wawasan Presidents must unequivocally declare that Najib will be free under their rule
Of course, they will curse us, but haven't they done enough of that already? That the Malays are lazy freeloaders; that Muslims are extreme? That we are thieves, that we have no principles?
I see the future is bright if we can be the real rulers. They can join us in government or leave. Does it really matter?
Nice try, Mr Kiang Ming. By declaring BN will win a clean sweep in Johor, you were putting fear amongst the non-Malays that unless they come out and vote, disaster awaits them
How could that be possible? Didn't you all say the PM had a 52% approval rating? It's PH who should do a clean sweep
Regardless of the trick, Malay votes will remain intact.
BBW is a zionist brand. Kalau boleh boikot mcd kfc yg mainly run by malays, kenapa kita susah nak boikot brand perfume sendu ni. Padahal banyak lagi option in the market.
Their founder openly supports and donates to Isr@3l and this policy is Islamophobic
Hari kedua LRT3.
Nak buat macamana kawan kawan. Inilah hasilnya bila tren 6 koc dah jadi 3 koc, 42 set tren, jadi 22 set. Maka 4 minit frekuensi dah jadi 8 min.
So?
Kalau bebas lagi elok.....lagi la beriya kita mengundi Najib bebas...
Udah kome habis modal nak berdebat pulak yea....
Hakikatnya..BN Johor menang apa jadah Najib bebas pulak?
