Only in Pakistan a national hero, an international star and a former Prime Minister is put in solitary confinement because he refuses to bow to those who have controlled the system for over 70 years.
🚨PETITION
Instead of taking decisive action to end its support for Israel’s genocide, the government has tried to repress people protesting it.
Sign our petition today to demand Andy Burnham sanctions Israel and stops attacking our right to protest: https://t.co/BengyVmD1w
Prime Minister @andyburnham and Foreign Secretary @Ed_Miliband : how much longer will Britain remain silent?
For three years the father of my two sons, and Pakistan’s former Prime Minister, Imran Khan, has been brutally penalised by his political opponents, in a personal vendetta by Army Chief, Asim Munir, which according to the UN, amounts to torture and which is now taking a potentially fatal toll on his physical and mental health.
He has endured 3 years of solitary confinement. For nearly ten months now his family has been denied contact with him. He has been deprived of the most basic human contact, denied access to books, lawyers and doctors.
The international human-rights standards are unequivocal. Under the UN’s Nelson Mandela Rules, solitary confinement lasting more than 15 consecutive days is prohibited and amounts to torture.
He has endured this treatment not for 15 days, but for three years.
Pakistan’s own Supreme Court has now intervened: ordering comprehensive medical treatment, access to his personal doctor, regular family visits and twice-weekly calls with his sons.
Yet those orders are being defied.
This is no longer simply a Pakistani political matter. It is a human-rights emergency.
He has deep and lifelong ties to Britain. He studied at Oxford University, captained Oxford University cricket and spent years playing county cricket in England. His relationship with this country stretches back more than half a century. His charitable activities were internationally recognised, and include building the only free cancer hospital in Pakistan as well as a university.
His sons, my two boys, Sulaiman and Kasim, are British citizens. They have been forced to watch their father’s health decline from thousands of miles away, prevented from visiting him, denied visas, publicly threatened by government officials with arrest themselves, and even denied court-mandated regular phone calls.
I have repeatedly appealed to the UK government to intervene. Purported attempts at back channelling have evidently failed. The previous Foreign Secretary @DavidLammy informed me in writing that Britain would not intervene if my sons, British citizens, are arrested when they travel to Pakistan to visit their father.
@FCDOGovUK: Britain must now speak out publicly and unequivocally. Demand that Pakistan comply with its own Supreme Court; restore Imran Khan’s medical access, his right to see his family, end his prolonged isolation and uphold his fundamental human rights.
Pakistan is a Commonwealth country. Britain has a long and proud tradition of standing against arbitrary detention, inhumane treatment and the denial of fundamental rights. Those principles mean very little if we invoke them only selectively and neglect them when inconvenient.
This an appeal to the new Burnham government to please now do the right thing.
The sons of the imprisoned former leader of Pakistan Imran Khan told CNN they fear for their father's health, claiming authorities in the South Asian country are preventing them from seeing him.
Pakistan's government said it "categorically rejects" the claim that Khan has faced a communication blackout or been denied access to his family, lawyers and doctors. Read more: https://t.co/FZSRdjTfaC
We urge Pakistani authorities to unconditionally restore Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi Khan’s right to see their family and lawyers.
Both must be given access to adequate medial care and their solitary confinement, which is unlawful, should end immediately.

It has now been around 1,100 days since my father, Imran Khan, was imprisoned, and my brother and I haven’t heard his voice since March. For months, we’ve been denied contact with him. We remain in the dark about his access to healthcare as his eyesight continues to deteriorate. He urgently needs medical attention, and with no family or legal access, we don’t even get any second hand information or reassurance.
I’ve found myself especially missing him recently. I want to speak to him about mundane things like my cricket, books I’ve been reading and what new movies are good. I understand the people of Pakistan want their chosen leader free, but I miss my father more than ever.
But this is not just about a father. It is about Pakistan, and its future. A rigged, authoritarian regime continues to crush political opposition, undermine democratic institutions, and deny millions of Pakistanis their right to freely choose their leaders, whilst terrorising those who speak their beliefs.
I once again plea to the international community to not look away. Silence in the face of injustice only enables it.

What General Bajwa and General Asim Munir have done with their institution is the most cruel and most expensive thing:
They have taken away their pride and credibility. These things might be intangibles but someone’s ability to take pride in their identify is the most prized thing for individuals. These Generals have stripped that from their people, which is very cruel and perhaps unforgivable by the victims and the Nation who once adored them.
People of Pakistan (within the country and the ones living abroad) are still in shock because of the letdown they have been witnessing since April 2022.
The fascism and injustice must stop asap! Nobody likes hating and giving ill wishes, there is a lot of power in love … May Allah guide them and fascism ends in our beloved country. Pakistan Zindabad!

"Israel beat, tortured, and sexually assaulted me and my fellow humanitarian peace activists for days."
Statement by Australian activist Violet Coco after her release from an Israeli prison.
Listen to every word carefully.
British Politician and member parliament Jeremy Corbyn raised voice for Imran Khan and said that the situation of Former Prime Minister Imran Khan is disgraceful, beyond belief, and absolutely outrageous. He also added that Imran Khan deserves proper care and medical treatment and not solitary confinement on unfounded and unproven charges.

Former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan’s sons @Kasim_Khan_1999 and #SulaimanKhan calling out the “Torture” on their father in Pakistani Jail, and demanding access to family and doctors.
Per reports, he has lost 85% eye sight in one eye.

So, you might think the government would have a view on its closest ally committing to kill off a civilisation overnight.
Looking across news sites can’t see any word.
Is the special relationship still on?
Do we have a government?
Who has the foresight of this magnitude in Pakistan other than Imran Khan?
Certainly not the folks who claim they are foreign policy experts! There is a price Pakistan pays for all bad decisions qabza mafia makes for their own benefits.

Thanks to former English cricketer David Lloyd for strongly condemning the mistreatment of Imran Khan and calling for his immediate medical treatment. @BumbleCricket
