They would also understand that this Hindu faith is not in opposition to her Christian ideas. They are complementary, because both traditions center on love for God, compassion toward all, and a life of service and devotion rather than conflict or division. One strengthens the other in the heart of someone raised with both.

At the core both paths are about surrendering the small self to something greater. In the Christian tradition that her father carried with strength it looks like taking up the cross, dying to ego so that divine love can live through you. It is the faith that teaches the greatest among you is the servant of all and that pure religion is to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction. That same spirit of humble service runs straight through the Gaudiya Vaisnavi path her mother embraced from her Midwestern roots. There the soul finds its eternal identity as servant of the servant of Krishna and the practice of bhakti turns every action into an offering. Chanting the holy names cleans the heart so compassion flows naturally to every living being without discrimination. No opposition here, just two rivers feeding the same ocean of love.

Tulsi grew up seeing both in action under one roof. Christmas celebrations honoring the birth of Christ who came to show the way of love and sacrifice. Gaura Purnima honoring the golden avatar who appeared to teach the easiest path for this age, the congregational chanting of the holy names that awakens love of God in every heart. Both holidays are about divine descent bringing mercy and the call to respond with our own love and service. A person formed in both does not have to choose sides in some religious war. They carry a wider lens that sees the unity behind the forms. That is exactly the kind of perspective that makes someone question endless foreign entanglements and stand for peace without being naive about real threats.

The complementarity shows up in the values she has lived out loud. Service to country through two decades in uniform comes from that Christian call to protect the innocent and that Vaisnava call to see the divine image in every soul worth defending. Speaking against policies that send young people to die in wars that benefit only the powerful reflects both the prophetic tradition in Christianity that confronts kings and the Vaisnava courage to speak satya even when it costs. The bigots and media hit pieces want you to see only the Hindu part as suspicious because it does not fit their script. They skip right over the Midwestern Christian foundation and the father's strong faith because acknowledging the blend would expose their attack as shallow prejudice rather than serious concern about loyalty.

When you actually look at the teachings side by side the harmony is obvious. Both warn that attachment to material power and prestige leads to suffering. Both promise that genuine love for God transforms how you treat your neighbor. Both celebrate incarnation, whether it is the Word made flesh in Bethlehem or the Lord appearing as Sri Chaitanya to flood the world with sankirtan. A household that honors both is not confused or divided. It is enriched. The child raised there learns that truth is not owned by one tradition alone and that real faith makes you more open to goodness wherever it appears rather than more closed off. That is the opposite of what the smear artists claim.

Those pushing the recycled accusations are not interested in understanding any of this. They are interested in keeping the narrative of otherness alive so they do not have to engage with her actual record or ideas. But the family story tells the truth. A mother from the Midwest who found her spiritual home in Vaisnavism and a father whose Christian faith stayed strong enough to raise a family grounded in both. That is religious freedom the way the founders meant it, not some imported threat. Expanding on how these paths complement each other is not defending one side. It is refusing to let ignorance and hate define the conversation. When folks take the time to see the full picture the attacks fall apart on their own.

This is why the dual household is such a threat to the narrative machine. It produces people who cannot be easily boxed into one camp or controlled by fear of the other. Someone who prays or chants with equal sincerity is harder to manipulate with religious wedge issues. They have seen that the essence is the same across sincere paths. Love God with all your heart. Love your neighbor as yourself. Serve without expectation of reward. Chant or pray until the heart softens. The forms differ but the fruit is identical when practiced with purity. Tulsi's life is living proof that you can carry both without contradiction and it makes you more effective at cutting through the noise of power politics. The attacks are not really about theology. They are about punishing anyone who refuses to play the game of division.

The bigots pushing these smears about her loyalty and faith are counting on folks staying ignorant. They twist her background into some kind of threat instead of seeing the harmony of two paths that both point toward truth, service and love for the divine. Tulsi has never hidden who she is. Her dual upbringing gives her a perspective that makes her stronger not weaker. It is exactly this kind of prejudice that the media loves to amplify when they cannot attack her record or her service to this country over two decades in uniform. 🌺

Correct, @alexahenning. The same discredited Guardian reporter who published completely false information about ODNI earlier this year contacted our press team at midnight and again at 2:45am — in the middle of the night during Easter and Passover weekend — because, as @catebrown12 has proven previously, they are not interested in the truth.

Sources only go to The Guardian when no other outlet will publish their tabloid lies.

This was the case in February, when they were forced to issue a correction for their sources’ false claims and their own faulty journalism.

And it is the case now.

The Trump administration constantly combats these types of hit pieces, which are littered with unsubstantiated gossip from uninformed, anonymous sources who know nothing about what is actually going on and who run their mouths to the press to feel a heightened sense of importance.

@guardian is the outlet uninformed losers talk to when everyone else denies to print their bs allegations and @catebrown12 is too dumb to be reporting.

Proven by the last story she did on the DNI she had to issue a “correction” that should have been a retraction after she printed completely wrong information about a politically motivated whistleblower complaint.

Reminder this comes after their story from earlier this week about the DNI that @WhiteHouse called Fake News.
