#NewProfilePic I’ve never introduced myself so here it is! My name is Anya and some of my favorite things are 1) supporting minority students in surgery 2) saying hi to people in the hallway 3) roller skating. I know #ILookLikeASurgeon but with this ERAS pic I feel like one too
#medtwitter I’m trying to become a better financial steward for my patients. Anyone have resources or know of curricula being developed to become better educated on billing/avoid surprise billing for patients?

#MedTwitter any other surgery residents use their personal phone as their pager? Any recs for maintaining work life balance?
Tried getting a second work phone but iPhone made a new setting where you need to have 2 separate contacts for each person which seems confusing
3 years ago today @UMichSurgery gave me the opportunity to share a bit of wisdom from my training. Though the world seems impossibly different in 2022 I think the lessons still ring true
To all the eager interns about to embark on an incredible journey, here are 10 lessons:

Match week is hard on our colleagues that did not match.
#Dermtwitter are there any faculty & residents that can assist unmatched derm applicants with opportunities -research year, open derm spots, and encouraging words/guidance?
Please reply to this thread 🧵 with any resources!
Seeing so many people open up unpaid research positions during match season for unmated doctors. If you are not providing funding, housing, mentorship, or a path to residency...you are not the mentor you think you are. That's free labor. Sorry if i am missing something #Match2022
Got questions about the #SOAP2022 process? Our DMs are open & our team of resident volunteers tries to get back to you quickly. We will also post/share any open PGY-1 residency and research jobs after SOAP week on our feed. Good luck — we are rooting for you all❤️ #InsideTheMatch
Absolutely breaks my heart to see #unmatched folks congratulating their matched peers with the words “you guys earned it.” Like yes they did but baby you earned it too and I hate the system for not granting you what should be yours.
This is one good reason - among many - for all residency positions to be categorical.
(Others would be that it’s anachronistic, seems unnecessarily disjointed and educationally suboptimal, and permits the exploitation of interns with dead-end preliminary (PGY-1 only) positions.)
We have received hundreds of requests for information about one-year research positions. If your team is offering a research or clinical position in any specialty, please tag us in a tweet to amplify! #MedTwitter#InsideTheMatch#Research#Unmatched
