Are you ready to see Jimbo Fisher return to college football?
Jimbo is actively positioning himself for the FSU head-coaching job. Multiple reports (including from Pete Nakos and Bruce Feldman) say he has been lobbying behind the scenes and has already spoken with donors about the NIL landscape and transfer-portal needs.
Fisher was a strong recruiter who wanted heavy involvement in talent acquisition. At FSU he produced multiple top-10 classes and operated in a more traditional coaching-centric model. He has also said publicly that he believes he can still recruit effectively in the NIL era “If I can recruit without money, I can recruit with money. I promise you that!" -NY Times
Jimbo would want significant control over roster construction and personnel decisions. This could mean the GM role currently with John Garrett could be eliminated or restructured to report to the head coach.
If Jimbo is hired I would expect FSU to hire someone with extensive ties to FSU to fill the AD role. This person should have a deep understanding of what FSU is all about and has a track record of closing deals. Some really big deals are coming soon for the Noles. Derrick Brooks would be the top candidate in my book for this role.
