The point of Sanskrit was the preservation and standardization of language. It was never meant to be spoken by the masses. The only times it was spoken in convo was when an outsider (e.g. Xuanzang) arrived in India and he only knew Sanskrit that he learned from the sutras.

Brahmagupta composed his works in Sanskrit, then he went out to drink tapori chai and saw another Brahman, and they probably sat together and conversed in Ujjayni Prakrit.

If your question, is what if we let Sanskrit evolve naturally instead of its restricted standardized form, then congratulations, you get various kinds of Prakrits which are what most Indian vernaculars are.

It's a bit of a stretch but asking people to talk in Sanskrit is like asking them to talk in Python and C++. Sort of.

Hindus were expelled from urban sindh too, mostly (not entirely, sadly) by Mohajirs who wanted to take over the property.. but overall Sindh maintained more of its Hindu population and remains less pakistanized than Punjab (relatively).. Credit to sindh more than Pakistan
