The new EcoCash app is actually impressive. The redesigned interface is clean, navigation feels much smoother, and features like fingerprint authentication add an extra layer of convenience and security. It definitely feels like a modern digital wallet compared to the older version. Well done to the EcoCash team! 👏📱🔒

VISA’S NEW VSP PLATFROM THREATENS AFRICAN CENTRAL BANKS’ PLAYBOOK!
On the 16th of July 2026 Visa Cross-Border Solutions announcement their new service, Visa Stablecoin Platform (#VSP), which provides financial institutions (FIs) with #Wallet-As-A-Service, direct #stablecoin mint/burn connectivity, dual-control (“four-eyes”) approvals, allow-listing, audit logging, and seamless linkage to existing Visa settlement, #treasury, and liquidity workflows.
For African #CentralBanks, who built their empires on friction of operating-hour transfer cut-offs, correspondent #Banking delays, reserve requirements, liquidity externalisation controls, and mandatory paper-based repatriation rules, now have to contend with #Visa removing all that overnight!
VSP lets #Banks mint/redeem their chosen Open Standard #USD based stablecoin #OUSD at ZERO fees! As if that’s not enough, there’s also ZERO artificial volume caps, as well as distribution of nearly all #reserve earnings (primarily short-term US Treasuries and #cash, minus a small management fee) back to #minting and distributing partners.
This means for participating Banks, net scheme #settlement that once relied on slow Bank wires now move #onchain in minutes, from anywhere to anywhere where VISA is present, which is more coverage of the earth’s surface than water itself. Twenty-four hours a day. Seven days a week. Three hundred sixty-five days a year.
…
How are African economies impacted?
Central Banks everywhere traditionally hold reserves of local Banks so they meet reserve requirements (RR), manage liquidity, and access lender-of-last-resort facilities. OUSD holdings (earning market yields via partner economics) compete with or substitute for Central Bank reserves.
They also manage treasury instruments through open market operations, collateral frameworks and liquidity facilities to influence interest rates, absorb or inject reserves, and finance smooth government debt, both issuance and rollover, all activities that come under severe threat when (not if) local Banks reallocate toward OUSD.
Is your Central Bank still pretending this stays on the fringes?
Banks face no new counterparty risk when they shift their position to VSP. They simply replace slow correspondent wires and RTGS cut-offs with on-chain Open USD transfers. The operational upgrade is immediate and frictionless. Thus, adopting VSP (as well as Mastercard’s version announced for end of the year) becomes natural for them. Except if Central Banks prohibit/regulate/integrate this - with threats penalties or at worst licence withdrawals of course.
However, Central Banks will do best to know that the adoption phenomenon will NOT reverse. Programmable money and 24/7 rails deliver clear operational gains for Banks, and are already inside Visa (and Mastercard) networks anyway…

Time everything you do even your breaks.
One habit that has had a massive impact is timing nearly everything I do, especially during work hours.
If I have a task, for example, to review a document, I estimate how long it should take say, 45 minutes.
I then set a countdown timer for 45 minutes.
If I finish the task on time and decide to take a break to get coffee, I estimate how much time that will take and set a timer for it, too.
There is something about deciding how much time to spend on a task, and then watching that time count down, that drastically helps you focus.
I don't always finish within the time limit, and sometimes forget to set or stop the timer.
But there is never a day where I have done this diligently and felt like I had an unproductive day.
Whats the most flabbergasting fact from your field that even sector seasoned seniors pause to double-check it, if not outright dismiss you?
Mine is the Economics "Money Multiplier Model" and the reality of how modern money is actually created.
>90% of money (broad money) is NOT earned by individuals/governments, or “printed” by their Central Banks, but actually “created” by local Banks through loans!
Wait…what?
Yeah, I know. With safeguards of course to curb against unlimited/unregulated money supply.
What’s yours?
Finance talk can feel confusing, especially when we use our jargon. EBITDA doesn’t need to be.
I made this simple visual to explain EBITDA in clear language with real-life scenarios with no complex terms.
Why EBITDA important anyway?
Lots of managers pretend to understand in meetings but secretly, they’re lost on what EBITDA actually means.
Here’s the easy version:
1. What EBITDA stands for?
• The cash a business earns from its main work
• Before paying interest, taxes, or accounting deductions
• Simply: profit from running the business. No side income included.
2. Why companies use it?
• Shows how much cash daily operations bring in
• Makes it easier to compare different businesses
• Investors and banks look at it to gauge company health.
3. How you get it (basic way)?
• Sales minus cost of products = Gross Profit
• Gross Profit minus day-to-day costs = EBITDA
• (It ignores things like interest earned or rental income).
4. EBITDA vs Bottom-line Profit
• EBITDA leaves out interest, taxes, depreciation, and non-core income
• Meanwhile, final profit includes everything.
So…
• Final profit = total earnings after all costs
And…
• EBITDA = core business performance
Sunday rantings
Why is the world so fascinated by charity but so indifferent to the sweat, sacrifice, risk and discipline required to create wealth? We celebrate the public act of giving to such an extent that politicians and businessmen now give with a loudspeaker. Bill Gates and Bezos wife have every right to give to charity. So was Steve Jobs winding down his philanthropic adventures as useless and not impactful as his full time job . It’s Bill, the public giver will celebrate.
But Jesus was far more scathing about this than we often admit. He condemned those who gave not out of humility, but to be seen by others. His warning was that public displays of righteousness may win the applause of men while missing the approval of God. He condemned religious acts performed for public recognition, teaching that prayer, giving and fasting lose their spiritual value when done for human applause rather than before God in private sincerity.
“Do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing.” If the reward you seek is the recognition of others, perhaps the act was never truly about generosity.
Can society and the congregation itself begin to question these public spectacles of giving? Not because generosity is wrong, but because they can create unhealthy psychological effects. They reinforce the idea that the rich are favoured, chosen and spiritually superior, while the poor are somehow cursed or lacking.
And in a country with extreme poverty of 49% most of whom go to church every Sunday the psychological damage is generational. They end up “seeding” the little they have and impressing with loud prayers and verse quoting to no avail. The thief and prostitute that stand in front of the church and give generously invariably excuse thieving and prostitution. The preacher unknowingly inflates the complex even further.
The harder question is not how much you give. It is who you are trying to impress: God or man?
