We (@AotearoaScience) are running a series of free Science Communciation half-day workshops around NZ over the next few months - our first one is in Auckland at @plantandfood on Wed 11 Oct - open to any jnr/mid researchers keen on improving their communication/media skills (1/2)
We (at @AotearoaScience) are offering a very cool short internship experience, coming with us on a bat catching expedition with @NZBatman in November. If you know a keen aspiring science communicator, please get in touch + SHARE THIS POST! Here's the video from our last trip.
@RotherMaia @damianchristie@1NewsNZ Shows how little you know. I personally worked with Siouxsie on Covid during lockdown and she refused to take $. All the interviews etc, unpaid. Love how you blocked me though when I simply pointed that fact out without any abuse. 🙄
We managed to get a few of our @AotearoaScience stories into the media over the break. This one is very cool - the discovery of a settlement in the Hauraki Gulf that pre-dates the Rangitoto eruption c1400, making it one of the oldest sites in Aotearoa! https://t.co/XsCXiHOqhT
ATTN: HOMESCHOOLERS (10+), LOVERS OF BIRBS & SCIENCE. We'll be doing a Science Chat with Matt Rayner from @aucklandmuseum live at 2.30pm. Topics include saving seabirds, how to do a 5 minute bird count for science, and the use of fake poo in conservation! https://t.co/d6aaYAB7kT
We are teaming up with @SiouxsieW to create a regular webcast about the latest science on Covid-19, as well as answering your questions, to help combat all the bad info out there. We're doing a test run today at 3.30pm on our FB and YouTube - any questions to [email protected]
Hey science peeps. I'm thinking about putting on some free workshops with @AotearoaScience over the next few months, interested in what you would personally find useful (non-science peeps please ignore this - others please share) #Scicomm#scicommnz
My production company, @AotearoaScience is looking for a junior/mid-level video editor, proficient in Premiere and After Effects. Ponsonby-based, full-time but flexible hours to suit someone with kids if that helps. My email in bio. Do fun work like this: https://t.co/7WU8ie5pbp
Well this is a very cool first - the video @AotearoaScience made for @callaghannz to mark the worldwide change in the way we measure a kg made it all the way to the @WSJ! https://t.co/rosIlHoaxu
My first trip to Motuihe Island yesterday, filming with @AotearoaScience, and I couldn't be more blown away. My first proper tuatara in the wild, and tieke and kākāriki too! All a short hop from Auckland, amazing!
With @pewenvironment & @WWFNewZealand we supported the first Taiatea, or 'gathering of oceans' in Maori, in New Zealand. Hosted by Ngati Kuri and @aucklandmuseum, conservation leaders from across the Pacific shared their experiences of ocean protection. Video by @AotearoaScience
Cliff Law @niwa_nz is joining Commonwealth experts in science and policy of #oceanacidification in Dunedin 17-19 Feb. Check out his research testing new techniques to raise pH and protect mussels https://t.co/kGtR9CP7z5 #sustainableseas@AotearoaScience
It’s a year since I won the PM’s Science Comm Prize, and I’m really proud to be able to say that @AotearoaScience is doing what we set out to do, making great NZ science stories. This is still my favourite shot from the ceremony -my bloody kids fighting in the Beehive curtains!
Among the many casualties of climate change, the crisp, sweet, juicy apples we enjoy in NZ. Scientists from @plantandfood have teamed up with Spanish scientists to develop new climate-resilient breeds.https://t.co/Ahlo7g0b9U
The kids microbiology series I made with @SiouxsieW and her daughter Eve is now available on YouTube - good news for all our overseas viewers. We've made it into a handy playlist so you can scoff all 4 episodes in one go. https://t.co/30esMc4e3D
It’s tough being back at work. Filming an @aucklandmuseum project installing 3D printed spotted shags on Otata Island in the Noises. Not every day at @AotearoaScience is like this, but damn it’s great when they are.
Happy 2019! We've been perfecting our BBQ skills, and looking at the science behind the perfect steak, a challenge bringing together scientists from @AgResearchNEWS@callaghannz@AucklandUni@otago https://t.co/FWl23d71Nt
