Apac became a District in 1974 and is located in Northern Uganda, at approximate distance of 250km from Kampala Capital City. Apac is structured with a Municipality, 8 Sub Counties & Town Councils, 54 Parishes, 376 Villages with a population of 221,962 and 52,327 Households.
The Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Onyuk Andrew, cautioned beneficiaries against using the hand hoes for activities that degrade the environment, particularly the cultivation of wetlands. He stressed that the tools are intended for lawful agricultural activities and warned that any person found using them to encroach on wetlands would face the full force of the law.
District leaders reaffirmed their commitment to monitoring the distribution process to ensure that every household targeted under the program receives its allocation and benefits from the government intervention.
APAC DISTRICT LAUNCHES DISTRIBUTION OF 52,327 HAND HOES TO HOUSEHOLDS
Apac District stakeholders, led by District Chairperson Hon. Agec Ambrose, have officially launched the distribution of 52,327 hand hoes to households in 12 LLGs across the district as part of efforts to boost agricultural productivity and improve household livelihoods.
The launch ceremony was attended by the district's three Members of Parliament: Hon. Otim Bernard, MP for Maruzi North Constituency; Hon. Obong Peter Acuda, MP for Maruzi County; and Hon. Awor Betty Engola, the Woman Member of Parliament for Apac District, together with the District and @municipali21247 political and technical leaders.

Speaking at the event, the leaders emphasized the importance of ensuring that the handhoes reach the intended beneficiaries and are used to support agricultural production. They called upon local leaders, technical staff, and community members to uphold transparency and accountability throughout the distribution exercise.
Hon. Agec Ambrose urged beneficiaries to make good use of the tools to increase food production, household incomes, and contributions to the district's socio-economic transformation.

The Apac District Local Government today held a Joint District Executive Committee (DEC) and Technical Planning Committee (TPC) meeting, chaired by the District Chairperson, Hon. Agec Ambrose, aimed at strengthening collaboration between the political and technical wings of the district for effective service delivery.
In his remarks, Hon. Agec Ambrose emphasized the importance of professionalism and teamwork in the implementation of government programs and district development priorities. He called upon all technical staff to observe proper time management and maintain high standards of accountability in the execution of their duties.
The District Chairperson further discouraged political harassment and undue interference by politicians in the work of technical officers, noting that mutual respect and adherence to established administrative procedures are essential for efficient service delivery. He encouraged both the political and technical leadership to foster a spirit of cooperation, consultation, and collaboration in addressing the needs of the people of Apac District.
"Development can only be achieved when both the political and technical wings work together harmoniously, respecting each other's mandates and responsibilities," Hon. Agec Ambrose said.
Speaking during the meeting, the Chief Administrative Officer, Mr. Olaboro Emmy Ejuku, pledged total commitment to working closely with the District Executive Committee, Councillors, and all stakeholders in advancing the district's development agenda.
Mr. Olaboro urged technical staff to fully support the political leadership in executing their mandates, emphasizing that unity of purpose and teamwork are critical to achieving the district's goals.
He reaffirmed the technical team's commitment to providing professional guidance and ensuring the effective implementation of council resolutions, government programs, and development projects across the district.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from both the political and technical leadership to strengthen coordination, promote accountability, and work collectively towards improved service delivery and sustainable development for the people of Apac District.

The first beneficiary of the Lango, Acholi and Teso cattle restocking program in Apac this afternoon appreciates the president for thinking about returning their lost cattle.
She said she will use the money to buy cows for milk and the income that will be generated from the sales of milk will help her to construct a decent house for her.
