A traffic stop on I-40 MP 333. Factors of criminal activity were observed. The driver, Daisy Carrillo gave consent and the search revealed approximately 50 pounds of Methamphetamine disguised as birthday presents. Her 4 year old daughter was turned over to Child Safety.
On March 4th, 2024, An Apache County Sheriff’s K-9 Deputy assigned to the Sheriff’s Special Crimes Enforcement Team (SCET) conducted a traffic stop on I-40 in Apache County, AZ. Factors of criminal behavior were observed. A search revealed 70 lbs of Meth and 36 lbs of Fentanyl.
On April 2, 2024, The Apache County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved acceptance of grant funding in the amount of $498,849.00 from the Arizona Department of Public Safety to enhance law enforcement and investigate other border-related crimes within Apache County.

On January 23rd, 2024, The Apache County Sheriff's Office assisted the St. Johns Police Department and arrested Karl Richard Milton Rhodes after he threatened to shoot court staff at the Apache County Superior Court in St. Johns, Arizona and any officers that came after him.
On January 10, 2024, the two listed suspects were involved in a shoplifting incident at the Speedway station and the Dollar General store in Sanders, Arizona, which led to an armed robbery incident at the Pizza Edge restaurant on the Navajo Nation in Sanders, Arizona.
Hazardous conditions exist due to weather on I-40 from the New Mexico state line west to the Navajo/ Apache county line. Winter weather conditions also exist on Navajo Route 12 and US 191 north toward Utah. A multiple vehicle rollover has been reported on I-40 at milepost 355
Just before Christmas 2023, Apache County Sheriff's Deputy Sherlock helped management of the Chinle, AZ. DMV deliver presents and blankets to patients at the Chinle, AZ. Nursing Home. They spent time visiting with patients and helped spread some Christmas cheer and goodwill.
Accident is under investigation by the railroad and NTSB. Apache County Sheriff's Office and Puerco Valley Fire Department assisted with the incident.
The roadway is cleared for traffic while the investigation continues.
