The job of the police is to serve citizens, not treat them as the enemy. There is a serious leadership crisis in the force. IPS officers are failing to provide the leadership the police desperately need. It is time for a complete overhaul of IPS training.

Your tweet effectively condemns India’s children for demanding a better education system. India is a constitutional democracy, not a police state. When the Leader of Opposition has to sit on a protest just to get an FIR registered, it exposes the rot in a police force led by IPS officers.

The Supreme Court’s seven directives in the Prakash Singh case (2006) remain largely unimplemented even after 20 years:
- State Security Commission to end political interference
- Fixed 2-year tenure for DGP and field officers
- Separation of investigation from law & order
- Police Establishment Board for postings and transfers
- Independent Police Complaints Authorities

Until these are enforced in letter and spirit, this IPS leadership failure will continue.
