#EthnicityPayGap
We’re hosting a series of regional roadshows between 18 September and 27 November 2025, which will bring the healthcare system and allies together to confront and address equity in pay and progression for NHS staff from Black, Asian, and ethnic minority backgrounds.
Anandi Gopal Joshi broke barriers and made history at just 19.
As one of the first Indian women to earn a degree in Western medicine, Anandi’s path defied tradition and expectation. Travelling to the U.S. for education, she fought through cultural norms and ill health to pursue a purpose greater than herself.
Her legacy lives in every young girl in South Asia who dares to dream beyond her circumstances.
A powerful story of courage, purpose, and transformation.

Dr Aaliya Goyal, GP and RCGP Council member, led health inequality projects that met people where they were - in gurdwaras, mosques and temples, in languages and settings that truly connected.
At one event, a woman responsible for cooking 10,000 meals a week was inspired to make healthier changes to benefit her whole community. That’s the power of culturally responsive care.
We’re proud to feature Aaliya’s story in the Health Inequalities Exhibition during South Asian Heritage Month.

🩺 For Dr Shiv Pande, general practice was never just about treatment, it was about access, communication and trust.
Born and trained in India, Dr Pande worked as a GP in Liverpool in the 1970s. In 1980, he launched Aap Kaa Hak (Know Your Rights), a TV show designed to help South Asian communities in the UK understand their healthcare options.
🎙️ His media work didn’t stop at the screen - he brought it into his surgery.
🧑🏽⚕️ Family planning, dietitians, social workers - all were welcomed into his practice to deliver joined-up, culturally responsive care.
We’re proud to feature Dr Pande’s story in our Health Inequalities Exhibition as we mark South Asian Heritage Month.

During South Asian Heritage Month, we explore interventions to support the lives of others, including raising awareness around organ donation to save lives.

It was truly wonderful and enlightening to be part of the Olive Tree Planting Ceremony at Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, hosted by Faiths Forum for London. This beautiful event was a powerful symbol of peace, unity, and shared humanity, rooted in the Sikh spirit of seva (selfless service) and interfaith solidarity.
Moments like these remind us that planting hope and unity is just as vital as planting trees. 🌿
