"They got collusion wrong": that's a pretty galactic fuckup, considering it was the biggest story in the world for three years and earned the New York Times and Washington Post Pulitzer Prizes, while people like @aaronjmate, @ggreenwald, @paulsperry_, @LeeSmithDC and I were called traitors for suggesting it was incorrect.

Regarding "interference," some facts:

- there has never been concrete evidence tying Russia to the release of internal files from the DNC. The head of Crowdstrike, the company that supposedly made the attribution, even testified in Congress that "we just don't have the evidence" the DNC was hacked at all;

- The DNC's lawsuit alleging it was hacked by Russia and made victim of a conspiracy that included Wikileaks and the Trump campaign was dismissed by a Clinton-appointed judge, who panned the lack of evidence for the DNC's "threadbare" conspiracy theory;

- the one criminal case alleging election interference was withdrawn by Robert Mueller's team after defendants appeared in court and sought discovery proving the allegations;

- the intial Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA) that claimed Russia conducted an "influence campaign" (the CIA/FBI/NSA never used the word "interference," by the way) to "denigrate" Hillary Clinton and help Donald Trump suppressed dissenting conclusions from within CIA chief John Brennan's own hand-picked team. It also excluded the dissenting opinion of State Department investigators and the Defense Intelligence Agency, while the FBI changed its conclusion a month before the report's release. The NSA never fully endorsed the report;

- that ICA relied at least in part on the horseshit Steele dossier;

- the primary source for the famed statistic that 126 million people were exposed to Russian "propaganda war" posts was New Knowledge, a firm that was hired by Senate investigators to study Russian influence but soon after disgraced, when it was caught creating fake Russian accounts and tying them to Senate candidate Roy Moore. "New Knowledge" had to change its name shortly after its celebrated Senate report, and its chief, Jonathon Morgan, was also implicated in another news scam, helping create the fake Hamilton 68 dashboard, which falsely claimed to track Russian bot activity;

- a New York University study in 2023 concluded Russian trolls had no impact on the election;

- the total value of Russian Facebook ads that were ultimately deemed to be election-related for court purposes was a whopping $2,930.

In sum, I didn't fuck up the biggest story in the world, and as for "interference," the main accusations involving a) "propaganda war" posts on Facebook and b) a "hack and leak" campaign involving the DNC are full of holes.

The idea that people who peddled crap like the Steele dossier could be directionally "more right" about a story than someone who didn't make gigantic factual errors is hilarious. You can't un-screw a pooch.
