Poland scores nearly €44 billion in EU Arms Funding. The largest share in Europe
Poland's Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that the government will review the SAFE program today.
"Poland has become the largest beneficiary of the SAFE project. Nearly €44 billion will be allocated for purchasing unmanned equipment for the ‘Eastern Shield’," he said.
The SAFE program is the EU’s rearmament initiative based on €150 billion in preferential loans. The largest share of this amount, €43.7 billion, has been allocated to Poland.
The loans under this program, provided to EU member states and raised by the European Commission, will be guaranteed by the EU budget.
The funds can be used both for purchasing military equipment and for acquiring ammunition.
